The Kohout lab is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to conduct fundamental research on the biophysics of voltage regulated proteins. Projects will focus on the unique voltage sensing phosphatase and will entail using several biophysical techniques, including electrophysiology, fluorescence imaging, cell biology and molecular biology.
A PhD in Biophysics, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience or related fields required. Previous patch clamp electrophysiology experience highly desirable. Additional experience with fluorescence imaging, cell biology, molecular biology, working with mice and/or computer programing would be advantageous. The post-doctoral fellow will be expected to design and perform experiments, draw valid conclusions, and apply this knowledge to devise testable hypotheses and models. The successful candidate will have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with co-workers, the willingness to learn new techniques, and the motivation to move the project forward quickly.
Salary will be according to the negotiated labor agreement between the American Federation of Teachers union and Rowan University, which aligns with NIH PGY0. The post-doctoral fellow will be evaluated every year by the principal investigator and continued employment is contingent on continued funding. Funding at NIH scale secured for three years.
