Job Posting Title:
Post Doctoral Scholar

Job Description: General Description:
The Bailus Laboratory at Keck Graduate Institute is in search of a Postdoctoral Scholar to join their team. The Post Doctoral Scholar will work on a project that involves creating a novel gene therapy for Angelman syndrome, a rare neurodevelopmental disorder, using a non-viral delivery platform. This platform has the potential to revolutionize the way neuronal disorders are treated by allowing for minimally invasive methods of delivering therapy across the blood-brain barrier. The technology being used on this project offers a unique opportunity to innovate and to apply these innovations across many different disorders.

The Post Doctoral Scholar will be joining a diverse team that works in a cooperative structure to achieve the project's goals. The skills desired for this project will involve cloning, cell culture, recombinant protein purification (bacterial and mammalian cells), and mouse work, including IP/SC/IV injections. There is ample opportunity in the Bailus lab to learn new skills and to innovate on various aspects of the project.

The postdoctoral scholar will have multiple opportunities to present their findings at research conferences (both national and international), write grants, and acquire teaching experience if desired. This project is funded by The Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics one of the leading funders of Angelman research in the country. The Primary Investigator, Dr. Bailus has fifteen years of experience in the gene therapy and neurological disorder field and has published multiple articles in this area.
