Job description

This is police work involving the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances. The Department is accepting applications for Police Officer (Florida Certified Law Enforcement Officers) and Police Cadet (Full Academy Sponsorship Program -or- Equivalency of Training Academy Sponsorship for out-of-state Certified Law Enforcement Officer).Certified Police Officer candidates may be eligible for a new hire incentive payment and a higher pay grade for prior law enforcement experience. This position requires a supplemental application information and documents. Applicants will only be considered after submitting required documents. Police Officer Salary: $62,067 - $101,171

To Qualify

TO QUALIFY

Qualified applicants must possess and maintain a State of Florida Class "E" Driver License; are at least 19 years of age; must meet the education requirement of 30 semester hours or the requirements for exemption of college hours based on three (3) years of military or two (2) years of Police Officer experience; and must meet all criteria of the City's current "Selection Standards for Police Officer Positions". Selection Process

Selection Process: Candidates that meet all the selection standards may be invited to participate in the pre-employment screening process to determine the most qualified applicants. The process includes a Physical Abilities Test, Background Investigation, Polygraph, Departmental Interview, Psychological Evaluation and post-offer employment Medical Exam and Drug Test.
