As Getty continues to develop its storytelling, we’re looking for a curious, art-loving podcast producer / reporter to join our communications team. The ideal candidate is an audio lover who is ready to dive into our multifaceted organization to bring human-centered stories about art, conservation, visual culture, and the work we do to Getty’s podcast audiences.

We’re looking for someone who not only loves to visit museums to ponder a painting but wants to know the story behind it; someone who is curious about cultural heritage and the arts and how they connect to today’s world.

Reporting to Getty’s Editorial Director in Trust Communications and working closely with Getty’s editorial and podcast teams, the podcast reporter/producer is responsible for sourcing, producing, and mixing stories, from ideation to distribution.

This is a full-time position in Getty Communication’s editorial department. Together, our team tells stories about the visual arts and cultural heritage to reach broad audiences in support of Getty's institutional vision.
Major Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and create a podcast that futhers Getty’s mission to create connections between people and art
  • Pitch, produce, and report compelling stories that further an enthusiasm for art and Getty’s work
  • Edit and deliver final audio mix distribution
  • Conduct thorough research of story topics
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the organization on all aspects of story production, from inception to review to distribution
  • Create and manage distribution strategy, and manage content across podcasting distribution channels, including Getty’s website and third-party platforms
  • Input stories and copy into Getty’s content management system for distribution, including sourcing images and writing web copy
Note: Los Angeles residency required. This position is NOT fully remote and consists of a hybrid in-office and WFH schedule.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably related to digital media production
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-medium projects in a production environment using numerous distribution channels such as social media, web, blogs, wikis, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated excellence in reporting and writing for audio
  • A passion for stories that spark a listener's curiosity and bring them something fresh
  • Strong writing ability with an understanding of what makes an audio story sing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of podcast audiences and audience development
  • Proficiency with ProTools, Adobe Audition, or other audio editing software
  • Experience with field and studio recording
  • Strong interview skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadline
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail
  • Understanding of and commitment to accessibility best practices, including knowledge of inclusive language
  • Strong initiative and follow-through, combined with a willingness to work collaboratively in a complex environment
  • Demonstrated interest in art and cultural heritage and its connections to contemporary culture
