Your day.

As a Regional Float Pool Pharmacy Technician, you need to know how to:

• Work with patients, providers, and insurance companies to obtain prior authorizations
• Answer phones and enter notes from physicians in a timely manner
• Accurately read, interpret and enter prescriptions in a timely manner
• Route questionable prescriptions to the pharmacist for completion
• Prepare medication orders and delivers prescriptions according to established policies, procedures, and protocols
• Accurately type, bill and prepare prescriptions to extent allowed by state and federal rules and regulations
• Perform basic calculations to determine doses and correct day supplies to be billed to 3rd party insurance companies
• Evaluate and process approval of prior authorization pharmacy requests from prescribers received by telephone and/or fax using client clinical criteria
• Communicate pharmacist's guidance on appropriateness of medication to physicians, physician's office staff, and medical management staff
• Research, resolve and document prior authorization outcomes in pharmacy system
• Communicate selected prior authorization criteria, pharmacy benefit coverage and formulary alternatives to physicians, physician's office staff, medical management staff and/or pharmacists. Escalate requests to Pharmacist when request requires extensive clinical review or denial
• File prescriptions hardcopies, reports, and other pharmacy records, providing information to associates regarding available pharmacy benefits and services

Your experience.

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Current Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT)

Preferred:

• At least two (2) years working as a pharmacy tech
• Previous retail pharmacy experience
