Position Summary


The Director, People Experience (PE Director), will promote and implement human resource systems and values by planning and managing human resources programs, and by directing staff and outside contractors and benefits partners. The PE Director will be process driven and consistent in applying the rules and regulations while providing leadership in designing for the organization’s growth across all locations including Knoxville, Montreal, QC, Victoria, BC and Chennai, India.

The seven major focuses of the PE Director will be: Recruitment & Selection, Performance Management, Compensation & Benefits, Learning & Development, Succession Planning, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and PE Data & Analytics.


Position Responsibilities


A People Experience Director is responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Supports overall company culture goals by working closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Researches, develops, and implements competitive compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, and employee incentive programs
  • Ensures legal and regulatory compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other PE areas
  • Operates well within the existing team-based structure with Bailey International. This includes working closely with our Business Unit Vice Presidents, our CFO, and CEO among others. It also includes working closely with EBSCO HR and Legal teams in advisory capacities
  • Develop and enhance a culture of empowerment and development within the current people experience team
  • Develops organization strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction; establishing human resources objectives in line with organizational objectives
  • Implements human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations.
  • Manages human resources operations by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing staff job contributions; maintaining compensation; understanding and working with production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies; designing systems to support our human resource goals; resolving problems and implementing positive change within the organization.
  • Develops human resources budgets by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements, trends, and variances; aligning monetary resources; developing action plans; measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances.
  • Accomplishes special projects, working with the executive staff and others, by identifying and clarifying issues and priorities; communicating and coordinating requirements; expediting fulfillment; evaluating milestone accomplishments; evaluating optional courses of action; changing assumptions and direction. Note that special projects can include the evaluation of potential acquisitions and the implementation of people experience systems within newly acquired companies.
  • Supports management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions, and by analyzing information and applications.
  • Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization values.
  • Complies with federal (US, Canada, India), state and province, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Supports manufacturing and distribution within an ISO9001 framework.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Position Requirements


  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other industry-related field required or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of seven years of progressive industry-related experience including five years in a leadership/ executive role
  • Experience leading acquisitions and mergers from a HR perspective
  • Experience leading multi-location related initiatives

Preferred

  • Master's Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development or related discipline
  • PHR/SPHR certifications
  • Familiarity with SuccessFactors and ADP modules
  • Experience in a manufacturing/production environment
