Job description
This position supports the Payroll department in all areas, including taxes, garnishments, time and attendance and payroll processing through research, analysis and process improvement.
  • Run custom reports for payroll department for validation of periodic pay results and to identify and report unusual trends or transactions
  • Perform periodic, quarterly, and annual tax reconciliations using ADP and Workday reports
  • Respond to requests from regulatory agencies as needed
  • Ensure compliance with various state garnishment rules
  • Assist team members with processing pay timely and accurately
  • Review employee pay results to ensure compliance with FLSA rules and policies
  • Assist in income, business and employment tax compliance
  • Serve as backup for Senior Payroll Analyst and Payroll Specialist
  • Process Multiple Worksite Reports Quarterly
  • Work with HR department on process improvements
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries
  • Track and collect overpayments as necessary
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivilent training and experience preferred
Work Experience:
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a multi-state environment with large pay volume (>1000 employee pays)
  • Workday experience preferred
  • Experience with reconciling and filing year-end payroll taxes
  • Familiarity with various state regulations, i.e. minimum wage, payment of final wages, garnishments, and reciprocity
Job Skills:
  • Knowledge of web based payroll required
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Must have the ability to work independently, take initiative, and make decisions with minimal supervision
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize information, solve problems, and make sound decisions
  • Must be detailed oriented - with strong attention to accuracy and problem solving. Must possess the ability to follow up, resolve and close all issues.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have strong computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Must communicate with accuracy, poise, diplomacy, and confidentiality while interacting with a broad range of employees and managers.
Certifications:
  • CPP certification a plus
Other:
  • Must have the flexibility to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant.
  • Must be able to lift 5 lbs.
  • Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor
  • Access information using a computer
  • Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain
  • Effectively cope with stressful situations
  • Strong mental acuity
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.
