The Role: Patient Scheduling Representative
MaineGeneral Health is a leading health care system that is proud of the culture of excellence, compassion and collaboration that extends to our patients and their families. We are offering a Full-time opportunity for a Patient Scheduler to join our team at the Eye Center.
The Opportunity:
MaineGeneral Health is currently seeking a Patient scheduler to join our team of professionals. The Patient Scheduler is responsible for gathering and verifying patient information including patient demographics and insurance information for scheduled appointments at our facility and physician practices. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced call-center environment and have a desire to help patients, this is your opportunity to be part of a great team.
The Work:
- Schedules appointment times using computerized scheduling programs.
- Communicates with medical and clinical staff to ensure availability of facilities and staff and intake preauthorization's at time of scheduling.
- Communicates with patients and/or their families, as permissible, to provide necessary pre-procedure instructions and to confirm appointments.
- Intakes demographics, insurance information, and pre-authorizations as necessary for all scheduled encounters.
You Have:
- Ability to handle a large volume of outgoing and incoming calls
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills (effective listening, clear communication, effective customer problem resolution, and warm demeanor)
- 1+ year working in customer service, preferably in healthcare.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Experience with using everyday computer electronic technology tools (e.g., email, data retrieval, voicemail, and internet/intranet) as well as ability to effectively utilize and enter information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
