WKCTC is a comprehensive community college that provides excellence in teaching a learning, promotes student success, and supports economic development.
This position is part-time and grant funded. The Adult Education Specialist I position within the Adult Education department will provide academic instruction to inmates at local correctional facilities or in the Adult Education Center.
Job Duties:
- Provide instruction in literacy, adult basic education, and GED test preparation
- Applies research-based instructional practices that incorporate the regular use of computers and other educational and emerging technologies
- Is knowledgeable of reading, writing, and math instructional strategies
- Provides continuous, data-driven feedback to students and adjusts instruction to optimize student learning outcomes
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and evaluate curriculum and other instructional materials
- Integrates work, family, and community-related activities into instruction
- Administers and interprets appropriate placement and diagnostic tests when necessary
- Ensures instruction is aligned to diagnostic test
- Applies adult education principles and methods in the classroom
- Maintains knowledge of program guidelines, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Participates in professional development
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in education or a content-related field
- Ability to meet the minimum requirements of either the TABE 11/12 or GED Ready test in reading and math
- Must have a flexible schedule
