Job description

The Department of College Construction and Maintenance is seeking a painter with experience in interior and exterior paint finishing systems and skilled with all commercial paint applications. The is a full time, 12 month salary position. Skills assessment may be required upon interview.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, commercial license considered a plus
  • Preferred high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and follow construction drawings and follow verbal instructions related to construction
  • Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds, continuously walk, climb stairs, stand, bend, and squat. Must be able to work in all outdoor seasonal conditions
  • Must be able to perform high work requiring stretching and reaching above head and shoulders, work from ladders, scaffold, or lift.
  • Must have basic knowledge of paint materials, shop safety, equipment, and MSDS provisions.
  • Required minimum 2 years experience in commercial painting
  • Required attention to detail, aptitude in appropriate tools including brushes, rollers, airless sprayers, caulk guns, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Minor drywall repair and patching of drywall and CMU walls.
  • Preparing on site conditions including assembling scaffolds, covering surfaces and fixtures, etc.
  • Preparing walls and other surfaces for paint by scraping, sanding, removing old coatings, filling cracks/ holes, etc.
  • Examine surfaces and existing coatings to determine material types.
  • Prepare and apply coatings to interior and exterior surfaces including drywall, CMU, concrete, brick, door frames, casework, trim, metal accents, fencing, etc.
  • Apply coatings with brush, rollers, and airless sprayers.
  • Maintain a professional work environment, abiding by NWCC rules and policies.
  • Adhere to all health and safety precautions per MSDS and maintain appropriate files.
  • Participate in daily crew meetings. Attend safety meetings.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned by Director/ Assistant Director of College Construction and Maintenance
