Dr. Schar USA in Swedesboro, NJ is looking for a Packaging Lead on Day Shift - Thursday through Saturday, 6:00am-6:15pm. The holder of the position is an assistant to the Production Supervisor and overall support to the Supervisor’s daily tasks. Packaging Lead will be responsible for being able to backup up all positions in the Packaging area and floats throughout the Packaging area to assist in tasks as needed. Responsible for following food safety, quality, government regulations, and SQF Guidelines and reporting deviations to key authorized personnel.

Team Leader Tasks

• Observe workflow in Packaging area to assign and cover employees for breaks and lunch
• Draft a weekly rotation schedule of positions for Supervisor’s approval
• Train and evaluate employees as needed to prepare for Qualification Matrix scoring.
• Provide feedback to the Supervisor on employee’s performance and advise on any concerns.
• Organize and help clean the work area in the Clean Room and packing area according to the cleaning instructions in Cleaning and Disinfection Plan using appropriate GMP Guidelines. Document the process in Cleaning Record.
• Responsible for correct line settings in the clean room and packaging line such as correct dates, slices, etc.
• Ensure completion and accuracy of Packaging Checklist
• Ensure execution of timely and accurate testing procedures

Individual tasks Production

• Execution of the production orders according to the instructions of Production Plan
• Visual inspection of packaging machines for safe operation (check belts, slicer oil, etc.) and verify data screen for error messages (power, air pressure, etc.). Perform first level resolution for any errors / problem identified.
• Start-up of packaging equipment, packaging preparation according to the instructions for the product. Record deviations in the production record instructions
• Correct use of the standard packaging procedures
• Execution of verifications according to Verification Plan for Finished Products and according to the verification instructions in the context of the process as well as precise recording of the verification results in the corresponding documentation
• Recording of events during the process in Production Record
• Cooperation with large-scale QA / R&D tests
• Support co-workers during setup and cleaning procedures
• Work on the packaging line as needed
• Collaborate during shift handoff with lead.
• Notification of sources of danger in the clean room and observance of instructions from the Occupational Safety and Health management system
• Correctly separate waste according to Waste Control
• Actively adhere and enforce Hygiene, HACCP, allergy, glass and blade management
• Observance of Safety Guidelines, Hygiene Guidelines, Internal Work Rules and Emergency and Evacuation Plan for Swedesboro Plant for employees in the Clean Room area
• All other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand/walk up to 12 hours
• Ability to bend, crouch, and reach
• Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50lbs

Qualifications:

• High school diploma/GED
• One year of experience as a lead on a packaging line or two years of experience as a Dr. Schar packer.

Desired Skills:

• Strong communication both written/verbal.
• Familiar with QA testing and inspection requirements.
• Train the trainer certification is a plus.
