Coastal Diesel Service, Inc. is seeking to hire an outside salesperson to join our team. We are a diesel parts and service specialists company located in New Bern, NC. Coastal Diesel is a family-owned small business that has been servicing Eastern NC since 1974. We are looking for an energetic and passionate individual that can work independently and as a part of our team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Maintains current product knowledge on features and benefits of all parts and services saleable by the company
• Monitors competitive activity/products and timely communicates to management.
• Has a retail-selling emphasis (understands task-oriented questions to ask, validates customer requirements, proposes a solution, offers demonstrations to help close)
• Maintains all customer information for sales management
• Knows and follows a defined sales process
• Maintains assigned company vehicles and equipment
• Drivers are required to learn assigned areas and will be responsible for keeping the customer's merchandisers fully stocked as required per season of the year. Prompt and consistent deliveries are required. The driver will be provided the necessary training.
• Route Salesman can be required to work long hours and weekends (if necessary)
• Route Salesman will be responsible for collecting money for the merchandise that is sold to COD customers and will be required to complete an accurate daily sales summary and call report.
• Conducts new equipment demonstrations
• Monitors trends in customer’s business activities and timely communicates to management
• Maintains current knowledge of financing options to assist customers with securing the purchase of new and used goods
• May maintain current knowledge of used equipment values and ability to evaluate properly for trading purposes
• Route Salesman will need to be able to communicate with customers with a good and appreciative attitude. A good customer relationship is a lifeline of this business.

This is a salaried position with a base rate of pay, plus commission on all items sold.
