Key Responsibilities
- Interpret field staking and units for insertion into mapping system.
- Coordinate and assist clients, field engineers and other staff with project needs.
- Generate, modify, update, and maintain spatial data for the organization at all locations.
- Assists the staff with systems analysis, maintenance, and update of GIS data.
- Serves as a field tech on projects involving GIS studies that require data creation, collection, editing, and manipulation; and provides supportive mapping data and analysis upon request.
- Incorporate electronic information from databases, mapping systems, and telemetry systems into working documents, maps, and control systems.
- Data analysis and manipulation.
- Continuous improvement of job-related tasks and processes, technical and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.
- Identify publicly available datasets at the municipal, county, state, and federal level.
- Consult with sources and experts to scope and verify information presented in cartographic products (e.g., place names, locations of geographic features, thematic information). Document sources for acknowledgements.
- Exchange content ideas for new maps and provide critique to peers. Promote a team-based approach to map-making.
- Assist in training other employees.
- Other tasks as assigned by manager/supervisor.
Qualifications
- CAD Drafting or field experience highly desired
- 2+ years of experience in telecommunications
- Understanding of RUS units and descriptions
- Collaborative teamwork experience
- Interest or experience in other tools and technologies (i.e., AutoCAD, GIS-based systems, mapping)
- Must be computer proficient
- Written and oral communications skills (including presentations), as well as listening and interpretation skills
