A unique opportunity for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to join a growing and dynamic outpatient radiology practice!

AMI is seeking a Cardiac Device Specialist to join our outpatient practice and perform in-person evaluations and assist patients requiring MRI exams who have pre-existing cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIED).

The Cardiac Device Specialist will work with the MRI CIED team to collaborate in providing the patient screening, monitoring and interrogation of various CIED manufacture types through all stages of MRI exams.

This position includes up to 16-20 hours per week and will provide coverage in AMI’s Galloway. Ability to travel to Wall, NJ is a plus.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

• Performs and reports device evaluations and analysis, with interrogation and reprogramming as needed, to provide optimal treatment to patients;
• Direct assessment and oversight of patients on the day of MRI exam, both independently and in collaboration with providers;
• Collaborates and communicates both pre and post MRI exam with CIED team, individual manufacturer program specialists and the patients Cardiologist;
• Ensures documentation and reports are completed and communicated appropriately;
• Processes wearable cardiac defibrillator remote transmissions and forwards reports to the patient’s cardiologist;
• Recognizes and responds to device abnormalities or malfunctions with appropriate interventions;
• Forwards information to referring physicians and providers;
• Educates and trains other AMI staff involved in the care of pacemaker/defibrillator patients;
• Assists in the continued development of the educational program to be used for CIED patients;
• Acts as a resource to all staff regarding clinical questions and decisions;
• Triages cardiac device patient phone calls and prescreening evaluation questions;
• Completes practice and unit specific clinical skill competencies to include MRI safety training;
• Assists department with onboarding new staff and assists leadership with providing continuing education opportunities for the team;
• Maintains and monitors systems, equipment and supplies for assigned department; and
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

• 
  Current, valid licensing and credentialing as an APN or PA as required by the State of NJ;
• Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of clinical experience, preferably in cardiology or electrophysiology; critical care experience preferred.
• Successful completion of a Cardiac Device Educational Program (such as Arrhythmia Technologies Institute or PrepMD) a plus;
• Five (5) years patient care experience analyzing and reprogramming cardiac pacemaker and automatic implantable cardioverter defibrillators (AICDs) (Biotronik, Boston Scientific, Medtronic, and St. Jude) a plus;
• BLS and ACLS Certifications are required;
• Experience with interrogating and programming Pacemakers or ICDs is required; and
• Previous exposure to all major manufacturers’ devices (Biotronik, Boston Scientific, Medtronic, and St. Jude) is strongly preferred.
