Are you interested in assiting with support groups and educational classes for adults living with mental illness, and for family members/loved ones of individuals living with a mental health condition? NAMI Yolo County is looking for AmeriCorps VIP members to facilitate support group, instruct classes , attend tabling at events to promote awareness or recruit volunteers, give community presentations, bring food for monthly meals for adults living in congregate care, engage in socialization activities with adults with serious mental illness living in residential care homes, answering calls to our resource line, social media help, marketing, and fundraising.

Service Term: January-June, or February-July

Service Commitment

· Full-time, six-month commitment serving a minimum of 900 hours, may include some evenings and weekends

· Service hours are expected to occur in person at partner sites. Teleservice is only permitted for members during unique, extreme situations and/or emergencies

In Exchange for Your Service

· Volunteer Management Certificate

· Monthly Living Stipend of $2,000*

· Segal Education Award of $3,247.50*

· Possibly eligibility for CalFresh (CA’s food stamp program) for those eligible

*Please note: the living stipend and education awards are taxable

Qualifications and Characteristics

· Must be at least 18 years of age (17 with parental approval)

· Clear criminal background check (DOJ and FBI; National Sex Offender Public Database).

· Provide proof of complete COVID vaccination (possibly required by region and/or placement site)

· Must have at least a high school diploma or a GED by the start date

Must either be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States (Due to federal grant restrictions, we currently cannot accept DACA recipients)

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $2,000.00 per month
