Position Summary:
The Mental Health Case Managerwill report to the Executive Director of the Student Health & Wellness Center (SHWC). The Case Manager provides continuity of care through the coordination of on- campus and off-campus health services and support resources.The Case Manager will provide
mental health case management, coordination, crisis intervention and follow-up for SOU students with complex mental health needs. The Case Manager will also develop collaborative relationships with SOU campus partners and Jackson County community providers.

Each SHWC employee is responsible for:
1.Knowing and complying with applicable internal and external policies, procedures, rules and regulations, including but not limited to: SHWC Policy and Procedures, SOU Policy and Procedures; AAAHC Standards, OSHA rules and regulations and profession specific rules, regulations and standards of care.
2. Performing all duties in a positive and constructive manner supportive of a healthy team environment and that reflect highest ethical.
3. Open communication by bringing all student, provider, SOU community, and broader community issues, concerns, and/or requests to the Director on a timely basis including but not limited to any potential risk management or quality control issues.
4. Performing other assigned administrative, clerical and housekeeping duties.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field
Two years experience providing case management, crisis intervention, conducting risk
assessments, and care coordination

Preferred Qualification :
Masters Degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field
Experience in a college or university counseling center

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills; ability to effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing, with some public speaking experience.

Ability to research, interpret and consistently apply applicable internal and external policies, procedures, rules and regulations, including but not limited to: SHWC procedures, guidelines and operational plans, SOU policy and procedures; AAAHC standards, OHSA, and profession specific rules, regulations, ethics and standards of care and to develop well-reasoned conclusions and recommendations.

Knowledge and skill in using current best practices in alcohol and drug treatment field

Ability to perform all duties in a manner that reflects the highest ethical and professional communication. Ability to adhere to Department Professional Communications Guidelines.

Ability to communicate openly by bringing all student, provider, SOU community, and broader community issues, concerns, and/or requests to the appropriate person on a timely basis including but not limited to any potential risk management or quality control issues.

Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds.

Ability to adapt to and work effectively in a heavily bureaucratic environment which requires regular interaction with a number of levels within the organization and multiple outside agencies.

Ability to effectively perform work of a highly sensitive and confidential nature that requires access to information. Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion, tact, and diplomacy.

Ability to proactively assess work operations and anticipate potential problems; ability to develop and implement strategies for preventing/resolving problems.
