Position Summary:


Leads and gives oversight to the processing of requests for privileges by Medical Staff Services Support Specialist to ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. Oversees the verification review process for all physicians and physician extenders by completing or delegating such administrative duties as ensuring state medical licenses, BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP/ATLS DEA certifications and Liability Insurance coverages are up to date. Checks the status of new appointments and reappointments and evaluates provider sanctions via the NPI registry (NPPES) and Office of Inspector General (OIG). Develop and implement processes and procedures for current credentialing/re-credentialing standards and ensures that the organization and Medical staff are in accordance with Medical staff by-laws and industry trends, including compliance with regulatory agencies. Assists the Credentials Committee with development of privilege criteria, privilege delineations, and other documents necessary to an effective credentialing process. Manages Credentialing Database in order to maintain the system and generate Provider Profiles. Direct other Departments in data that is uploaded to Credentialing Database. Generate OPPE reports for Providers every 6 months. Analyze the profiles to aid the Department Chairs in reviewing their Physicians. Initiates and tracks FPPE process for providers and maintains up-to-date files regarding FPPE/OPPE data for all privileged practitioners. Acts as liaison between Hospital Administration and the Medical Staff. Interprets hospital policy and Medical and Staff By-laws, Rules and Regulations as appropriate. Analyzes all reports, minutes and correspondence relating to the medical staff. Maintains knowledge of standards of The Joint Commission, National Committee on Quality Assurance, and state and federal regulations related to Medical Staff organization and staff compliance. Assists with The Joint Commission survey preparation for the Medical Staff and hospital leadership, including Medical Staff education, to ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. Performs various data analysis for the Director of Quality, including various data for Medical Staff OPPE. Generates Customer Experience Scorecards and help Management with the Customer Experience database. Provide reports related to Medical Staff organization to appropriate hospital departments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Three (3) years of administrative experience that includes management, preferably in healthcare environment working with physicians. Excellent computer skills of MS products (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access). Strong analytical ability, interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, and public speaking skills. Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to coordinate with others. Strong motivational skills and a high energy level are imperative. Professional demeanor. Ability to effectively communicate with the Medical Staff, Administration, and other hospital departments. Basic medical terminology required.


Required Education, Licenses, and Certifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
    Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or Medical Staff Services
  • Diploma or Certificate Program
    National Association Medical Staff Services

Preferred Education, Licenses, and Certifications:
  • If no degree, equivalent experience (1 year) will be considered

Other Information:
Must be able to communicate both verbally and written with various education and professional levels and backgrounds. Work is sedentary in nature. May on occasion require attendance at early morning and late evening meetings.
