Position Summary:

Responsible for the review of medical records information and converting diagnosis and treatment procedures into codes for billing.

Essential Functions:

· Codes and abstracts routine to complex patient medical record information according to the International Classification of Diseases Clinical Modification Systems (ICD) and the current procedure terminology (CPT) Manual and coding conventions and guidelines as established by the Coding Clinic and Office of Statewide Planning Health Department (OSHPD) reporting requirements.

· Participates in Quality Improvement activities and training programs as required and/or appropriate.

· Collaborates with the Billing department to ensure accurate, timely billing.

· Reviews medical record documentation/information and verifies coding and DRG assignments in response to billing requests.

· Provides training to medical staff on proper charting and coding.

· Reviews and process subpoenas as per policy and or due date

· Scanning documents as directed.

· Must be willing and able to change work shifts to meet patient and department needs.

· Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with patients, payers, team members, and other stakeholders

· Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

· Assists in compiling statistical data for clinic reporting.

· Performing other specific projects related to billing, data entry, and computer operations as required.

Qualifications:

· Always demonstrate dependability and professionalism as a liaison of the facility Exemplary customer service in both verbal and written encounters is required.

· Experienced working in a Rural Health Clinic preferred.

· ICD-10 experience required, 2 Year.

· CCS or NCICS Preferred

· CPT, HCPCS experience required, 2 Years.

· Knowledge of PPS coding requirements required, 2 Years

· Full vaccination for NOVEL CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19), including booster.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday 8:00 am -5:00 pm

Some Overtime may be required.

$17 to $25 hourly
