ViZn Energy Systems is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Manager to join our team in Columbia Falls, Montana. ViZn Energy is developing an environmentally sustainable and commercially viable flow battery with the ultimate goal of providing grid-scale renewable energy storage to markets around the world.

This position is based on-site in our Columbia Falls, Montana headquarters. This area of Northwest Montana is home to Glacier National Park, Flathead Lake, Whitefish Mountain Resort, and many other world-class outdoor locations to suit the interests of nearly any outdoor recreationalist. Job Description

ViZn Energy Systems has an opening for a Mechanical Engineering Manager. The qualified candidate will manage a team of mechanical engineers and technicians which design, analyze, and build flow battery systems for large scale energy storage solutions. The primary requirements are to manage the design and development of next generation battery stacks and electrolyte management systems, as well as guide the sustaining efforts for current generation battery stacks and electrolyte management systems. This is a key technical position to help drive technology development and provide technical leadership to support director and company initiatives.

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 10 years’ design and 5 years’ management experience in a mechanical or industrial environment. It is required to have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, experience with plastic injection molding processes, as well as fabrication and assembly processes for high-production volumes. The successful candidate will have proven experience with engineering documentation and change control along with successful production release of products at a manufacturing company.

The mechanical engineering manager will work closely with electrical and process engineering teams to implement solutions that increase product lifespan, improve manufacturability, and ensure safe operation of battery systems. Interaction with senior management and finance departments will be required to develop department budgets and spend schedules.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience. Relocation assistance is available for candidates living outside of the immediate area. Preference will be given to candidates who have prior experience in energy storage technology.

Requirements

  • Minimum BS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ design experience with plastic injection molded parts, metallic weldments, and complex assemblies.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ management experience managing mechanical engineers and technicians in a product development environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ industry experience for a manufacturer of industrial equipment or relevant field doing similar work.
  • Able to prioritize activities to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Clear communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Proven track record of working with a diverse and multi-faceted development team.
  • Proof of ability to live and work in the US.

Preferred Experience

  • Energy system design including electrochemical storage systems and/or fuel cells.
  • Industrial fluid management system development.
  • Understanding of installation and troubleshooting of industrial equipment.

Preferred Skills/Attributes

  • Goal oriented and self-directed.
  • Demonstrated work ethic consistent within a start-up atmosphere.
  • Formal training in business management or administration.

Compensation

ViZn Energy offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with the candidate’s experience, capabilities and qualifications. ViZn Energy provides health, vision, and dental insurance, paid time off, and a flexible work schedule and environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $125,000.00 - $155,000.00 per year
