Manager Rehabilitation FT BBC OP
The Rehab Manager serves as a contact for internal and external customers. They are responsible for creating an environment that fosters positive customer service and meets all quality standards, implementing new and monitoring ongoing processes. This role provides an opportunity for leadership succession.
The Rehab Manager performs direct patient care 30% of the time in their specialty area and must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. Other administrative duties are performed 70% of the time.
Additional Job Description
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy, or Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, and hold a valid and in good standing discipline-specific license in the State of Michigan; and a minimum of 3-5 years of clinical and supervisory experience required.
Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Doctor of Occupational Therapy, or Doctor of Physical Therapy preferred.
Responsible for hospital inpatient acute and/or ambulatory rehabilitation services.
Prefer to be a member of at least one rehabilitation professional organization.
BLS is required within three months of hire. • Advanced spreadsheet and word processing skills. • Excellent communication skills • Strong problem-solving skills • Strong interpersonal skills • Basic business operations knowledge, reading a spreadsheet, finances, costs, expenses, and revenues • Strong knowledge of the Medicare and third-party payer guidelines for charging and billing rehabilitation • Strong knowledge of the code of ethics for all disciplines within rehabilitation • Strong attention to details • Strategic planning skills • Ability to work as a team member • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with patients, visitors, employers, hospital personnel, physicians, administrative staff, and others in situations where significant strategic and service issues are discussed and/or decisions are made • Develops short and long-term goals for their area of responsibility and action plans to accomplish agreed-upon goals. • Must display the interpersonal skills necessary to lead a group of professional, technical, and ancillary personnel.
• Possess social sensitivity, and the ability to communicate effectively is required. Regularly performs work requiring high interpersonal skills to deal with delicate patient information. • Develops, secures approval of, and administers the operational and capital budget to attain agreed-upon goals and approved plans. • Participates in formulating and reviewing policies for their area of responsibility and secures appropriate approvals. • Hires, develops, evaluates, and (when necessary) disciplines and discharges subordinates or makes authoritative recommendations; determines the qualifications and competence of department personnel who provide patient care services who are not licensed, independent practitioners. • Directs the preparation of departmental records and recurring and special reports and analyses, ensuring they are complete, accurate, and timely. • Reviews and interprets them to ascertain the extent to which departmental goals are being attained; takes corrective action as necessary. • Schedules qualified and competent personnel to provide service/care appropriately based on the business needs of the department(s). Adjusts department staffing daily to meet staffing needs (including managing volume change, replacing call-ins, assigning/approving overtime, using on-call or contract staff, and implementing low census). • Collaborates with physicians and other disciplines regarding patient care activities. • Creates and maintains a favorable work environment. • Establishes and maintains clinical standards of practice. • Initiates and facilitates change as needed. • Reviews and remains current with state and federal compliance regulations. • Continuously assesses, monitors, and improves the performance of care and services provided. • Participates in appropriate or assigned committees • Assesses space and other resource requirements of the department and makes appropriate recommendations with objective supporting data. • Participates in selecting sources for needed services not provided by the department or the organization. • Responsible for deploying, integrating, and modeling the behaviors and standards of Bronson’s Plan for Excellence in areas of direct responsibility and throughout the entire Bronson Healthcare Group. • Responsible for ensuring that our employees follow safe practices and procedures for the fair and ethical treatment of our patients, families, visitors, and other customers • Responsible for making timely decisions and taking necessary action related to the readiness for, and compliance with, the requirements of internal and external bodies involving compliance, accreditation, auditing, and other regulations required of Bronson Healthcare Group. Physical Demands • Work that produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g., interactive and repetitive or small detailed work requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods, the operation of and complete attention to a personal computer or CRT between 40 and 70 percent of the time. Involves considerable standing or walking, regular lifting of light-weight objects (i.e., 20 pounds or less), and assisting with heavier tasks such as helping lift and move patients. Minor straining or fatiguing positions must be assumed, and some fatiguing physical motions are required
