The Huntington UX team is seeking a Manager of Design Research for the Design Strategy and Research team. In this role, you will manage a team of design researchers and assist the UX team’s efforts to involve users in a portfolio of experience design initiatives and advocate for the user with teams across the company.

In this role, you will:

Manage, grow, and empower a team of diverse design researchers

  • Ability to coach and advise on a variety of research methods and techniques for both generative and evaluate research.
  • Partner with stakeholders, other design leaders, and design researchers to understand business needs and create thoughtful user-centered research approaches and statements of work
  • Oversee generative and evaluative design research efforts executed by Huntington UX or external third-party vendors (e.g., usability testing, one-on-one interviews, focus groups, heuristic evaluations, co-design activities, contextual inquiries, ethnographic research, surveys, card sorting)
  • Oversee and advise on analysis and synthesis approaches and activities for research data and communicate insights and design criteria to clients, partners and executives
  • Review work products and provide feedback and direction - know how to deliver feedback and understand its role within a team

Drive efficiency and operationalize design research for Huntington

  • Oversee research operations, including; streamline process for recruiting, resource management, manage third-party relationships, work with internal finance and sourcing partners on budget related items, etc.
  • Partner with the Director of Design Strategy and Research to build staffing plans, monitor capacity, and plan training/development activities
  • Facilitate relationships with both internal and external partners
  • Identify and create processes necessary to remove blockers and get work done
  • Identify opportunities to advance our digital experiences
  • Build relationships with people at all levels of the organization

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Design
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in the field of design research and usability
  • Experience in the field of experience design and leading large-scale projects
  • Experience leading and/or managing people

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading research efforts at an enterprise level
  • Experience in generative and evaluative research methodologies, data collection, analysis and synthesis
  • Experience presenting to large groups including senior leaders
  • Outstanding organization, facilitation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of human factors and usability considerations, including ADA compliance/guidelines
  • Experience with UX operations
