Children’s Cardiology, a subsidiary of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, is comprised of more than 50 pediatric cardiologists providing comprehensive services for patients from before birth to age 21 who have acquired or congenital heart disease. The Licensed Practical Nurse interacts directly with the patients and families and provides oversight of clinical operations to ensure delivery of effective patient care and efficient operational management.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Current Georgia LPN license required.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience.
• Experience in pediatric cardiology preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• EMR/Epic experience preferred.
• Must possess general nursing knowledge as well as critical thinking, judgment and assessment skills.
• Position requires ability to identify and report unusual or problematic circumstances in clinic.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Obtain EKG, vital signs, oxygen saturations on patients; validate Medical Assistant’s work up.
• Obtain general clinical assessment of patients.
• Review information and report to physician or the registered nurse, including any problematic or unusual findings.
• Holter and Event monitor placement, education, and follow up.
• Prepare packets for tests and procedures, including labs, cardiac caths, MRI (e.g. MRI’s Cath, Stress).
• Medication education; including administration, actions, reactions and discharge teaching.
• Phone triage in clinical setting.
• General operation, maintenance and trouble shooting of clinical equipment.
• Collaborate with insurance companies for patient care management and pre-certification (when necessary).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
