Overview:
Are you experienced at designing and delivering training programs and learning strategies within an organization? Western National is in search of a dedicated and collaborative Learning and Development Specialist to join our team and drive organizational growth while supporting learning and development initiatives.

This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your expertise in adult learning best practices, content delivery methods, training assessments, and facilitation skills to contribute to a successful learning and development environment. You will assess training needs plus design, build, and implement development strategies through highly effective technical and soft-skill training experiences. You will also be instrumental in the success of employee onboarding experiences and retention.

This new position provides an excellent opportunity to partner with key people throughout the organization using an open mind and flexibility. Collaborators will include leadership, business partners, and subject matter experts who will provide input for identifying and prioritizing training needs. In addition to developing, scheduling, and delivering content, the individual in this role will evaluate and track the success of training and development programs for employees at all levels of the organization.

This position offers a hybrid schedule that allows working from home up to two days a week once onboarding is successfully completed.

The full hiring range for this role is: $61,400 - $92,100 annually; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. Candidates outside of the range listed above are encouraged to apply and will be considered based upon their individual qualifications and/or may be considered for other positions.
Responsibilities:
  • Designs and implements learning and development strategies based on organization needs and in partnership with the Learning and Development Manager.
  • Partners with subject matter experts to create and deliver program materials focused on advancing the skills and careers of our team members.
  • Uses instructional design methodology to develop eLearning using best practices for online content.
  • Designs, develops, and updates learning materials to ensure content is relevant and current.
  • Facilitates and adapts learning and development programs on topics such as leadership, customer experience, best practices, and technology.
  • Delivers pre-packaged and department-developed course material to team members.
  • Performs learning management and administrative duties associated with conducting training.
  • Continuously monitors relevance and effectiveness of learning initiatives.
  • Conducts research, needs assessments, and evaluation of programs, to determine trends, best practices, and emerging learning solutions that can be applied to the organization.
  • Completes administrative and logistical tasks for training.
  • Reviews and summarizes training feedback, purchases needed supplies, acquires training tools and equipment, and arranges venues.
  • Consistently acts according to our customer experience standards including responding quickly, maintaining a positive attitude, building rapport, demonstrating empathy, managing the customer’s expectations, using the proper communication channel for the situation, and taking ownership to ensure the customer’s issue is resolved.
  • Performs support tasks and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of experience designing and facilitating training, both in-person and virtually.
  • At least 3 years of experience with digital learning and authoring tools, learning management systems, video creation tools, learning libraries, and other learning platforms.
  • Clear understanding of the fundamentals of instructional design.
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories and principles.
  • Creative and organized with excellent time management skills.
  • Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams)
  • Experience with online learning development tools such as Articulate 360 or Camtasia.
  • Insurance industry experience is preferred.
  • Experience in talent management practices like coaching and development planning is preferred.
  • Experience designing and developing engaging, effective, and large-scale learning programs using successful strategies while applying an Agile approach is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, education, business, training, or related field; experience in lieu of degree acceptable.
