Job Title: Lead Supervisor

Summary

Lead Supervisors at Sunny Glen Children's Homes New Day Resiliency Center are compassionate and experienced individuals who will oversee the daily operations for all assigned shifts and ensure proper supervision at all times. Lead Supervisors will work shift schedules, subject to work overtime when necessary, and be on call for any issues that may arise at the program level. Lead Supervisors must understand the care for children who are in ORR custody, are from difficult backgrounds, and experience behavioral and emotional challenges. Our goal is to reach the heart of each child in our care and help them heal from their traumas. To that end, Lead Supervisors must have a strong commitment to the Unaccompanied Alien Child (UAC) and in understanding their lives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Must abide by Sunny Glen Childrens Home New Day Resiliency Center (NDRC) mission of giving nurturing, trauma-informed care to children from difficult backgrounds
  • Ensure that monthly, direct care staff meetings are being conducted by the Shift Supervisors.
  • Complete annual performance appraisals for Shift Supervisors and direct care staff under their immediate supervision.
  • Must develop monthly Shift Supervisors and Direct Care staff work schedules and post in a timely manner. Approve or deny any personal, holiday, or sick leave requests.
  • Responsible for addressing employee performance issues in a timely manner and maintaining documentation of conversations. Must adhere to New Day Resiliency Centers disciplinary action policies and procedures, and in coordination with and approval from Assistant Program Director and/or Program Director.
  • Must be available to be on call and will be the administrator on duty for immediate assistance to all program related concerns that may arise.
  • Must assist with any creating corrective action plans if any noted discrepancies are discovered by State Licensing and/or ORR.
  • Ensure that intake services are completed in a timely manner. This will include completing necessary paperwork, providing youth with an overview of the program services and designating initial placements of youth in to the shelter.
  • Ensure that the shelter is providing basic needs to every UAC upon arrival to the program which include providing a hot meal, clothing, hygiene products, shower and bedroom assignment.
  • Must ensure that appropriate supervision levels are met as per State Licensing and ORR requirements during every shift by following up with Shift Supervisors and reviewing direct care staff work schedules. Make adjustments to the work schedule as needed.
  • Must ensure all forms and progress notes are properly completed to ensure compliance with State Licensing and ORR requirements.
  • Assist Shift Supervisors and other Department Leads with providing the necessary staff for special educational events such trips to the local museum, or local library, acculturation activities such celebrating U.S. Holidays, recreational outings such as visits to the park or local movie theater.
  • Maintain open and consistent communication with the Program Director, and/or Assistant Program Director or designee regarding all incidents.
  • Assist with the submission of monthly reports, funders quarterly reports, and end of year reports to the appropriate entities.
  • Ensure that all organizational safety initiatives are carried out and enforced at the shelter.
  • Must attend all organizational required trainings that will enhance professional growth.
  • Must attend all departmental and program meetings to ensure that up-to-date information is received and disseminated to Shift Supervisors and all direct care staff.
  • Must assist in the emergency evacuation of all UACs as needed due to inclement weather conditions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen occurrences.
  • Travel as needed for trainings, conferences or to transport UACs to destinations located within the U.S.
  • Attend Treatment Team Meetings to convey UACs progress to all disciplines present.
  • Must be able to adapt to change in a positive, productive manner, and in moments notice.

Minimum Qualifications

5 years ORR experience working with youth services required

1 year of Supervisory experience required

4-year Bachelors Degree from an accredited University preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

5 years of ORR experience within a supervisory role working with unaccompanied children required.

4-year Bachelors Degree from an accredited University preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Strong communication skills, important. Bilingual is preferred (English/Spanish).

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Texas Driver's License with an excellent driving record.

CPR/First Aid, 15 passenger van, Handle with Care, TBRI, Electronic case management software, Paycom, and other ORR and DFPS mandated training (trainings offered on the job.)
