Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed (days, nights, weekends, and holidays)
  • Must have basic cleaning skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of housekeeping practices and procedures is desired
  • This position is physical in nature and requires complete physical mobility, including, but not limited to, bending, carrying, climbing stairs, crawling, reaching and squatting.
  • Position requires ability to lift up to 40 pounds of supplies and push and pull up to 40 pounds of supplies.
  • Must be customer service orientated
  • Attendance is crucial to position

General Responsibilities:

To contribute to an attractive and clean hotel in accordance with the standards of our hotels, by providing clean linens for the guest rooms. Responsible for providing superior service internally and externally.


Specific Essential Tasks/Duties:

  • Wash and Dry all linens
  • Load and unload washers. Bring soiled linens to empty washer and load with proper weight
  • Unload washers into proper baskets for movement to production
  • Sort all linens according to type and soils. Sort dirty linens as needed.
  • Keep a prepared supply of pre – counted linens to wash
  • Process stained linens according to established standards
  • Know and follow the operating function of all washers and dryers. Know how to operate washer manually, as well as automatically. Refer to operating manual and supervisor for specific information or questions
  • Press and fold all linens neatly and according to guidelines
  • To ensure the quickest loading and unloading time, always have pre-counted soil carts available for loading and have empty carts available for unloading
  • Report all damages, hazards or defective equipment to supervisor
  • Stock linens for distribution
  • Keep up the laundry room at all times, ensuring cleanliness and proper maintenance
  • Stock day shift carts with all needed linens and refill all supplies
  • Cordially, quickly and efficiently honor all guest requests for irons, pillows, etc., within ten (10) minutes of request
  • Know chemicals used in washing and the related hazards. Work closely with supervisor and chemical supplier to obtain the best products and operating formulas. Control quantities of supplies as recommended by chemical supplier with approval of Executive Housekeeper
  • Be familiar with was temperatures in formulas and check temperature gauges for control
  • Performs such other additional and related duties as may be assigned by Supervisor or General Manager
  • Prevents any damage to hotel property by exercising proper caution with chemicals.
  • Become familiar with the SDS log (OSHA requirement), knowledge of chemicals used on property.
  • Uses Housekeeping chemicals as necessary to clean assigned areas to standard
  • Ensures the rapid maintenance and repair of hotel equipment by reporting all maintenance requests Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance.
  • Assists in providing training to new employees.
  • Performs other additional and related duties assigned by the supervisors and or the General Manager to provide service and teamwork in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures.
  • Meet and exceed Customer and Associate expectations by providing service and teamwork.
  • Discretion / Independent Judgment: this position does represent the company in handling customer complaints, arbitrating disputes or resolving grievances.
  • As a Room Attendant you will be expected to work with team members and guests to ensure satisfaction.
  • A Room Attendant will have to take initiative and get creative in resolving challenges and involve a supervisor/manager only when previous methods have been unsuccessful.
  • Minimizes safety hazards by practicing safety and following all safety rules and procedures.
  • Projects a favorable image of the hotel to the public at all times.
  • Adheres to all hotel policies and standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
  • Attendance is crucial to position.
