LinQuest is seeking a full-time Junior Operations Research Analyst to join our team in Washington, DC. US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance is required.


The Junior Operations Research Analyst will apply operations research, mathematical modeling, and other methods to support the development, and interpretation of information to assist organizational leaders with decision-making, policy formulation, and various managerial functions. Collects and analyzes data and develops decision support software, services, or products using the latest technology. Works with team members to conduct research studies to optimize work processes and enhance operations.


Responsibilities:

Analysis

  • Applies knowledge of operations research, mathematics, and analytical techniques to assigned work
  • Seeks clarification of management objectives as necessary
  • Works with team members to perform analyses
  • Performs a variety of tasks in support of projects assigned by higher level analysts
  • Performs special research tasks designed to utilize and enhance knowledge of work processes
  • Prioritize and perform work tasks in support of projects assigned by higher level analysts
  • Assist with studies to evaluate, inform, and improve decision-analytic models

Communication

  • Document problem analysis using analytical models, simulations, or other decision-support systems
  • Prepares briefings, papers, and summaries necessary to achieve organizational goals and objectives
  • Deliver presentations to peers and Team Leads on ideas, techniques, and results

Innovation

  • Seek and share creative solutions to problems

Technical Expertise

  • Stays abreast of emerging technologies and professional developments to remain current in the field

Required Skills and Experience:

  • BA/BS degree in operations research, mathematics, industrial engineering or related field
  • Entry-level knowledge/experience applying scientific methods and techniques to analyze systems (3 years of experience is preferred)
  • Fundamental knowledge to apply scientific methods and techniques to analyze systems and software
  • Knowledge in DoD systems, weapon subsystems design, or military operations is preferred
  • Experience with R, Python, Excel VBA, MATLAB, SAS and JAVA or JMP
  • Ability to develop and utilize analytical models via languages such as Python, R and C++
  • Ability to analyze and interpret problems and to recommend effective solutions
  • Quickly learn and understand major functions of clients supported and problem domains of interest
  • Shows initiative by learning and (where able) applying new technologies
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance
