About the Role

Joule Case is hiring a Junior Controller to set the long-term strategy, general accounting, and finance close processes. This is an exceptional opportunity to not only join a startup company in hyper-growth mode but to also build out the company's accounting and finance functions. The role is a hands-on position responsible for ensuring accurate financials, identifying and monitoring financial risks driving controllership initiatives, and implementing systems and process improvements to scale. The role is based in Boise, however Remote work is available for the right candidate. This role reports directly to our CFO and indirectly to our COO.

What You'll Do

• Day-to-day finance, expense, and accounting operations
• Establish strategic goals and direction for the general accounting, close function, and contribute to the development of financing solutions and other strategic initiatives
• Ensures financial results are prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP and established accounting policies and procedures
• Leverages technical accounting knowledge to assess and account for unusual, infrequent, and/or complex transactions
• Work on building/expanding financial and operational reporting capabilities that provide Joule Case leadership team key insights about the business and help drive the right business decisions
• Supports our consolidated and statutory audits by providing necessary information and resolving conflicts and questions as they arise
• Optimizes the use of tools and accounting-related systems to leverage automation, create efficiencies and improve the company’s close process
• Drives process improvement mindset across company, leveraging project management and change management skills to deliver results
• Foster collaboration, transparency, and a results-oriented mindset amongst stakeholder groups.
• Forges strong relationships and communicates/consults with a range of stakeholder groups to define and achieve objectives
• Models and encourages open, honest, and direct communications and encourages open debate to get to optimal solutions
• Utilize Quickbooks Online, Gusto payroll, and Carta Equity Management financial tools.
• Supports CEO in Equity Fundraising with updated Pro Formas, timely financial reporting, and due diligence documentation

Your Background

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. CPA preferred.
• 5+ years of accounting experience with progressively increased responsibility and complexity (preferably audit experience in public accounting).
• Strong knowledge and application of US GAAP.
• High energy, positive presence along with top-notch written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Flexible, organized, and detail-oriented.

Salary Range & benefits

$70,000 - $95,000 annually.

Employees are eligible to receive stock options and may also receive other forms of compensation.

Employees may also be eligible for bonuses, stock options, and other forms of compensation.
