Duties
  • Works as a colleague across and within school(s) to serve as a consultant, coach, collaborator, presenter, and facilitator to support school and teacher implementation of College and Career Ready Standards (CCRS) for teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with school educational teams to develop meaningful professional learning plans for developing rigorous teaching, leading, and learning practices.
  • Engage staff in differentiated active learning experiences that increase the application and transfer of the learning into daily work practices.
  • Identifies professional learning gaps, to design professional development plans that follow a learning progression.
  • Provide job-embedded professional development such as analyzing student data, using standards-based curriculum tools, conducting research to improve instructional practices.
  • Addresses problems of practice, and examining student work to ensure the fidelity of implementation and achieve positive student results.
  • Develop and support professional learning communities for school educational teams and teachers that build shared and collective understanding of content/curriculum knowledge.
  • Develops Student centered instructional programs, and assessments of student progress that support a standards-based educational system.
  • Promote best practices in such areas as: standards-based instruction, assessment, student-centered learning environments, learning outcomes, shared leadership, facilitation skills, and reflective practice.
  • Assesses the learning outcomes, design, and effectiveness of curricula and professional learning, using formative and summative assessment tools to ensure quality and degree of implementation, and to inform the school (s)s instructional decisions.

  • Incumbent must respect the privacy and sensitivities of students and parents by controlling and restricting personal information to those with a need to know.
  • Incumbent may be required to travel by military/commercial aircraft, land or sea transportation to stateside or overseas locations for meetings/conferences; may be subject to environmental conditions to include potential exposure to acts of terrorism



Qualifications

Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Minimum Education Requirement:A Master's degree in the field of Education. The course work must have been completed at or accepted by a regionally accredited U.S. college or university. The undergraduate/graduate course work must have included study in at least three of the following five areas:

1. Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material.

2. Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness.

3. Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments.

4. Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training.

5. Computers in education and training: Study of the application of computers in education and training.

Specialized Experience Requirement (5 years): Specialized experience is experience gained in teaching, educational research, development of educational materials and aids, educational testing, educational administration, or comparable activities in an elementary and/or secondary school which has clearly demonstrated success in the application of principles, methods, and techniques of education and familiarity with current developments in PreK- 12th grade education and training.

Education
Foreign Degrees and Course Work from Non-accredited Institutions: Credits or degrees earned from a foreign college or university must be evaluated prior to acceptance. Three evaluation procedures are acceptable:
1. The work may be evaluated and interpreted by the International Education Research Foundation, Inc., Credential Evaluation Service, Post Office Box 3665, Culver City, CA 90231-3665 or www.ierf.org/ or 310-258-9451.

2. The foreign institution that awarded the degree is on a list endorsed by a regionally accredited university or on a list endorsed by a state department of education for the purpose of teacher certification in that state (this procedure will require an English translation of the transcript and a copy of the document awarding the degree, together with an authenticated list produced by an American university or a state department of education); and

3. The work may be evaluated by the graduate division of a regionally accredited university and declared the equivalent of similar undergraduate or graduate work in a U.S. institution.
Graduates of non-accredited institutions may have their undergraduate work validated by admittance to graduate school and completion of a minimum of 5 SH of credit in a regionally accredited graduate college.
