JOB SUMMARY: Information Systems Engineer and Educator

Responsible for providing higher level on-site and remote information systems support for all end users in communities located in New Jersey, Manhattan, and Westchester county to resolve hardware, software, and network issues included but not limited to computer, VoIP and Analog telephone, door access, emergency response, PA, A/V, and IP and analog security camera systems. Additionally, write concise, informative synopses of all work performed, as well as follow-up on escalated technical support issues in a timely manner and pursue problems and projects through to resolution. On-site training on all systems and applications is a must.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Information Systems Engineer and Educator

  • Stage and implement new PCs including end user backup and restores
  • Using industry and educational knowledge with independent judgement, oversee all technology operations and evaluate them through onsite building audits
  • Set up new users and disable old users via Active Directory and Office 365
  • Work with end users’ cellular and other mobile devices, assisting them with MFA including but not limited to Duo and Microsoft Authenticator apps
  • Manage and maintain VoIP and Analog phone systems including but not limited to Cisco, Avaya, and Mitel
  • Manage and maintain Aruba wireless networks and controllers, including software updates/upgrades/patches
  • Familiar with Dell SonicWALL SSO Agent management
  • Manage and maintain CCTV systems (both IP and analog) including but not limited to Axis, Ocularis, Hikvision, Digital Watchdog and InVid. Set up and support installation and replacement of cameras, DVR’s, and NVR’s as needed, as well as covert camera placement and installation when required
  • Tier two on-site support for reported IT issues including but not limited to computers, copiers, cameras, phones, access control, public address, wireless, security, and emergency response systems
  • Manage and resolve tech support requests on designated weekend day
  • Train (and re-train, when necessary) individuals and groups on proper, operations-driven use of all systems and applications
  • Assist as needed with inventory/audit assessments at all locations
  • Manage application security/user profiles
  • Communicate requirements to vendors/request assistance to resolve issues when necessary
  • Suggest and implement solutions and/or enhancements to technological resources based on observation and analysis of business requirements of all departments
  • Manage Dell SonicWALL configurations and end user VPN access via NetExtender
  • Perform CAT6e cable runs and terminate male and female tips as well as cable tracing
  • Develop new strategies and IT procedures to increase efficiency, enhance workflow, and improve user satisfaction
  • Maintain documentation of systems information as needed to be shared by IT department
  • Communicate issues and their resolutions to both IT department colleagues and end-users
  • Escalate issues to Regional Director of Information Systems and/or VP of Information Systems when necessary
  • Additional duties and tasks as assigned by Regional Director of Information Systems and VP Information Systems

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Information Systems Engineer and Educator

· Daily hands-on interaction with networking, systems troubleshooting, cabling, phone maintenance and camera management

· Support and assist end user needs

· In depth training sessions on web-based applications and Emergency Response Systems

· Document all activity performed and report on arising issues as necessary

· Willing to acquire knowledge from senior staff to perform all required duties

· Talk with technical and non-technical co-workers to research problems and find solutions

· Create and escalate trouble tickets to Tier 3 staff and/or third-party service providers as needed to ensure resolution

· Keep abreast of new trends and best practices in the technology landscape

· Work closely with local site management to ensure site needs and IT plans are in line with corporate expectations; be an influencer in this role and communicate with managers at all levels of the company

· Be on call at times, travel away from home and show a high degree of flexibility

· Accept additional tasks and responsibilities within the department, besides those detailed in this job description as new business needs arise

· Must be a persuasive leader who is able to communicate related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff

· Must include one weekend day as part of regular work week

QUALIFICATIONS: Information Systems Engineer and Educator

· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

· 5+ years of field experience

· 5+ years of experience working in a Help Desk or Desktop Support environment

· Comprehensive knowledge of Active Directory, Office 365, Windows Server, Azure, Camera Systems, Dell SonicWALL’s, IP and Analog phones

· Understanding of TCP/IP connectivity in LAN’s and WAN’s a plus

· Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds

· Willing to work weekends, holidays and late evenings if required

· Ability to think critically, excellent reasoning and troubleshooting skills

· Ability to multitask, prioritizing multiple objectives and initiatives

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills

· Willingness to dedicate time to the pursuit of knowledge and furthering of career

· Skilled knowledge and use of the following equipment (will be provided to employee) and peripheral devices:

· Cable tester

· RJ45 and RJ12 crimper and associated connectors

· Wire stripper

· Phone test set

· Multipurpose screwdriver

· Cable toner
