About the Department
The Ross Human Resources Department boasts an accomplished team of HR professionals that provide a full complement of talent lifecycle services to the 400+ staff at Ross and provides academic HR support, guidance and administration to the 300+ faculty, lecturers, and graduate employees. Areas of expertise include talent acquisition (recruitment), compensation practices, employee and labor relations, health and wellness, performance management and training and development. All members of the HR department contribute to our positive and inclusive work community by building trusting partnerships across the school, learning, creating impactful experiences, and working with for outcomes.

Purpose:
Reporting directly to the HR Director, as the Human Resources Manager (HRM) you will be a thought partner for a portfolio of staff units (~200 staff) collaborating with unit and school leadership to provide guidance, interpretation and consultation on policies throughout the entire employee lifecycle. You will manage the training and development strategy for staff and independently design and implement HR programs in alignment with the Ross HR Strategic Plan and Ross Commitment to Action. You will ensure prompt, efficient and professional responses to employee relations issues and draw upon experience and provide technical guidance to other HR staff members. You Will:

HR Business Partner

  • Partner with unit leaders and managers to identify and address workforce gaps and structural needs
  • Consult with unit leaders and managers regarding performance concerns; design and help implement development plans, training plans, and corrective actions.
  • Coach and educate unit leaders and managers, supervisors and employees on HR guidelines, employee engagement, leadership style, coaching and counseling process, conflict resolution, interpersonal communications and effective team interaction
  • Consult with staff regarding growth opportunities or movement within the organization.
  • Identify metrics to analyze and make recommendations to unit leaders to act on to support their business objective and priorities

Training and Development

  • Develop, implement and evaluate the training and development strategy for staff; work closely with University Organizational Learning to use existing programs and resources
  • Partner directly with HR Manager for Recruiting to ensure alignment with staff onboarding training programs
  • Manage the performance evaluation process (Mindful Performance); including ongoing communications, training, participation tracking and program effectiveness
  • Manage the Annual Performance Bonus Program; prepare materials and communications, facilitate nomination committee discussions and make final recommendations for approval
  • Lead a staff training and development team that recommends, plans and executes programs, initiatives to enhance staff training and development

You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five (5) years of human resources management experience including recruiting, performance management, employee relations, and training and development
  • Two (2) years experience in developing and implementing training programs
  • Experience working directly with individuals in senior leadership positions
  • Working knowledge of relevant federal and state employment laws

Work Location: This position is a hybrid role, working onsite three days a week and remotely 2 days a week

Salary Information: The general salary range for this position is $78,000 - $87,000. Candidates can expect to be paid a competitive and equitable salary. Factors used to determine salary include experience, knowledge and skills for the position.
