Human Resources Generalist

JOB OVERVIEW

The Human Resources Assistant will be charged with assisting the Director of Human Resources and other departments with human resources management related duties as well as administrative and project support. Provided the guidance and direction of the Director of HR, the HR Generalist is expected to play a key role in recruitment, hiring and employee engagement activities with the intent to create the conditions in which employees feel valued and are committed to Haltec’s goals and values. This role will support enhancement of department functions and performance by successfully performing the described essential duties and responsibilities in this job description.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Director of HR with full cycle recruiting efforts, including:
  • Coordinating the communication and collection of hiring needs and information
  • Developing and posting job descriptions and advertisements, both internally and externally
  • Plans and coordinates the entire interview process.
  • Accurate and timely completion, distribution, and monitoring of offer letters and other relevant communications.
  • Provides prompt response to candidate’s inquiries and questions.
  • Assists with the planning, preparation, hosting and administration of scheduled New Hire Orientation. Tasks include but are not limited to, explanation of benefits, explanation of company policies, practices, and procedures, verifying I-9, Ohio Hire, E-Verify, etc.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality.
  • Develops / updates job descriptions in cooperation with process owners and leadership team.
  • Coordinates and represents company at job fairs and recruiting events.
  • Supports and facilitates creative solutions that ensure an adequate workforce in response to employment environment challenges.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.
  • Interprets policies and procedures and resolves issues with employees in regard to adherence of company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain completion and auditing of USCIS Form I-9 administration
  • Participate in the planning and execution of employee functions and employee recognition programs
  • Initiate and promote employee engagement activities and behaviors throughout the business.
  • Maintain, review and audit personal files
  • Respond timely to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits, including health and dental, 401k, PTO, FMLA, and general employee personnel issues.
  • Assist with the development of company policies and procedures and updating and maintaining Company Policy Handbook.
  • Administer and Prepare correspondence related to payroll, employee benefit programs, benefit eligibility packets, HSA 401(k) packets, open enrollment communication, etc.
  • Assist with implementing and coordinating training throughout the facility
  • Coordinate the issuance and return of Company property
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee and benefit information in the HR systems by processing all status changes, salary changes, garnishments and terminations and withholding requests immediately upon notification by employee
  • Prepare required daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as well as special reports as requested
  • Assist with compensation and benefits planning and administration including coordination of annual open enrollment, changes in coverage and reconciliation with benefit providers
  • Coordinate COBRA and other benefits for terminated employees
  • Stay current with local, state and Federal HR laws, legislation, and trends, and maintain compliance with each
  • Perform other HR duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of local, state, and Federal laws pertaining to HR is required
  • Strong competency for human resource functions including business management and strategy, workforce planning and employment, benefits, human resources development, employee relations and risk management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, team oriented and ability to deal with a wide variety of personalities, communication and learning styles
  • Excellent judgment - consider relative costs and benefits of actions and choose the most appropriate one
  • Exercises the highest level of confidentiality and integrity
  • Advanced computer literacy in Windows environment including MS Office experience
  • Ability to work independently, set goals, prioritize, organize and accomplish work timely
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Works effectively with changing priorities in an ambiguous environment
  • Accepts constructive criticism and ability to deal calmly and effectively with stressful situations

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited four-year college or university in human resources management, human resources development, business, or a related field of study and 3-5 years related experience.
  • SHRM-professional certification is highly desired but not necessary.

Pay: $35,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
