We have a wonderful opening for a Human Resources Generalist to join our HR team in a temporary capacity at Bloodworks Northwest. The incumbent will work closely with the Human Resources Business Partners, consult with managers and employees on employee relations, performance management, recruitment, selection, and compensation administration in support of Bloodworks’ strategic goals and objectives.

Principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Work with the Human Resources Business Partners, supervisors, and employees to respond to and assist in the resolution of internal employee relations issues.
  • Assist managers and supervisors with employee engagement, performance management and compensation issues to ensure employees are focused and rewarded on achieving organization goals.
  • With the Benefits Administrator, oversee protected leave of absences and accommodation issues for client group, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Acts as resource to employees and supervisors/managers regarding protected leaves as well as leaves of absence available through Bloodworks policy.
  • Conduct compensation analysis, as necessary, to ensure that Bloodworks compensation remains appropriately competitive.
  • In collaboration with the Recruiting team, conduct recruitment activities for assigned client groups as needed including staffing needs, advertising, and sourcing applicants.
  • Guide selection process for assigned client groups including applicant screening, coaching supervisors on interviewing skills, and assist with selection and job offers.
  • Complete administrative reconciliation of applicant records to assure integrity of records and readiness of response to ensure compliance.
  • Provide assistance to all Bloodworks employees, responding to requests for information and/or problem/complaint resolution.
  • With the Organizational Learning & Development Program Manager, help design and conduct training programs to address organization wide training needs (i.e. Orientation, Management Development, Annual Update, etc.) - maintain training records.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with members of Human Resources department to assure consistent application of policy, shared analysis of organization trends, and information sharing.
REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of progressive experience in HR disciplines.
  • Human Resources experience in health care and/or non-profit (desirable).
  • Proficiency with HRIS/Payroll systems (Ceridian Dayforce experience strongly preferred) and extensive software applications experience (MS Word, Excel).
  • Needs assessment, training design, and presentation experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Incumbent must have the ability to perform in an environment of ambiguity.
  • Telecommuting (remote work) is a frequent but not permanent condition of this role.
  • This position is responsible for providing support to staff performing work throughout our 24/7 organization. As a result, after-hours work, including evening and weekend meetings, may be required.
  • Because this position may support staff in locations throughout Bloodworks’ service area, travel in western Washington and western Oregon may be required on a regular basis, sometimes with short notice.
  • This is an essential position with direct responsibility to employees supporting donors and/or patients, and incumbent should be prepared to work extended and/or consecutive shifts and/or possibly at a different location during periods of inclement weather or other emergencies.
  • Work on scheduled holidays and weekends are expected conditions of this job.
  • Bloodworks is a community supported non-profit organization. As such, incumbent can expect to work with volunteers.
  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 (defined as two weeks after receiving final vaccine dose) or approved medical or religious exemption to the vaccine, is a condition of this role
