Job Purpose:

Proactively PROTECTING the health, safety and environment of our employees, partners, and communities where we operate while ensuring COMPLIANCE with the Lufkin HSE Management system. Effectively managing a CULTURE of Learning and Continuous Improvement.

Key Accountabilities:

• Strategic member of the HSE Team responsible for the execution of the HSE strategy and Annual HSE Plan in their area of support,
• Partner with local leadership to provide HSE strategy, technical expertise, and coaching to all employees,
• Reduce the risk of occupational and environmental loss through the application of health, safety, and environmental principles, knowledge, and experience,
• Communicate HSE performance and emerging trends to the leadership team and participate in the development and execution of mitigation strategies to reduce and prevent incidents from occurring,
• Participate and/or lead incident investigations and assure corrective actions are assigned and tracked to closure in a timely manner,
• Ensure that all Lufkin HSE processes and procedures are communicated and implemented across the facility,
• Complete and actively participate in risk assessment development across the manufacturing facility,
• Work with the Global HSE Compliance Manager to ensure that all environmental programs are implemented and being adhered to i.e. SPCC, air permitting, waste disposal etc.
• Sets personal objectives, provides fair and constructive feedback, evaluates training needs, and seeks areas for improvement while acting as a resource to other facilities across the globe,
• Develops and contributes to a positive team dynamic to ensure high performance,
• Directs the continuous improvement process within the local team.

Required Education & Preferred Certifications

• Bachelor of Science (4-year) degree from an accredited university or equivalent work experience and two (2) years of HSE related work experience or five (5) years of direct HSE experience as an HSE professional

Required Knowledge / Skills

• Ability to train, communicate and influence all levels of employees,
• Experience in transforming safety culture,
• HSE work experience within the manufacturing realm,
• Professional certification is a plus (i.e. CSP, CIH, etc.),
• Ability to travel but limited travel required,
• Strong grasp and understanding of OHSA regulations, EPA regulations, industrial hygiene, auditing, correction/preventive action, continuous improvement,
• Ability to influence, inspire and motivate people who are not directly under his/her responsibility,
• Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking capability,
• Microsoft Office applications- Intermediate level.
