JOB SUMMARY
The CNA is a paraprofessional member of the health care team who works under the scheduling supervision of the Customer Service Coordinator and Clinical supervision to perform basic nursing care tasks and administrative tasks as assigned. Assists agency in meeting the pan of care when there are call-outs by scheduled staff or when admitting new client cases.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
Implements and maintains the plan of care and provides day-to-day assistance, support and demonstration in the home.
Ensures quality client care.
Ensures the safety of clients and self.
Appropriately communicates information relative to client care in accordance with agency policies.
Effectively manages personal work schedule so that agency operations are uninterrupted.
Demonstrates the ability to use time efficiently.
Maintains professional and cooperative behavior.
Maintains confidentiality.
Maintains an appropriate standard of appearance in all settings.
Maintains appropriate licensure, educational and other requirements as required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education: Must have completed an approved nursing assistant training program consisting of at least 75 hours of theory and 16 hours of practical training and be registered with the North Carolina Division of Facility Services.
Licensure / Certification: Current certification/registration with the NC Division of Facility Services. CPR preferred and may be required for some patients.
Experience: Minimum one-year experience as a nursing assistant or personal care aide with Well Care Health Services preferred.
Mental Abilities: Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to follow plan of care. Ability to complete a diversity of tasks.
Essential Physical Requirements: Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Requires ability to stoop or kneel, bend, push, reach with hands/arms.
Essential sensory requirements: Ability to use sight to complete patient care activities and evaluate patient condition. Ability to use hearing to communicate with staff and patients and to hear alarms, etc. Sense of smell.
Exposure to Hazards: Noise, potential exposure to blood and blood borne pathogens, body fluids and infectious diseases. May be exposed to dangerous animals and traffic hazards while home visiting. May encounter patients and other situations which present a potential threat to personal safety. May encounter temperature changes and weather extremes.
Transportation. Must have dependable mode of transportation. Ability to serve all areas of assigned county.
Other – Hours of Work: Varies on a case by case basis, variable hour employee.
