Kaizen is seeking a Market Sushi Chef to add to our new and growing team as we branch out to Gilbert with our partner Air Guitar! As a Sushi Chef, you would be responsible for preparing food items in accordance with recipes and established standards in the concept's continuing effort to deliver outstanding quality and guest experience. The emphasis for this position is all things maki including our traditional and specialty maki in the grab-and-go case, prep for the remainder of the grab-and-go menu such as donburi, edamame, and poke bowls.

You will be responsible for the following:
  • Execute grab-and-go sushi to high standards set by the Head Sushi Chef.
  • Attain knowledge and ability to execute all menu items
  • Apply safe Food Handling and Sanitation practices when preparing, handling, or storing consumable items
  • Ensures proper product rotation; using consistent "first in, first out", practices
  • Proficient in fish butchery and standard sushi prep.
  • Maintain a working environment that is set up for success, by properly setting up and breaking down kitchen and prep area, stocking stations properly, completing daily side work & cleaning duties, and keeping areas organized throughout service
  • 18 years or older
  • Food handling card or certification through an approved organization
  • Able to lift and move 50 pounds and sustain working long hours on your feet
  • Should have reliable transportation to get to scheduled shifts on time
  • 1-2 years sushi experience in a kitchen
  • Basic knife skills, prep production & recipe execution abilities
  • Can follow directives and instructions at all times
  • Working knowledge of common weights and recipe measurements
  • Ability to work in close quarters with other cooks successfully
  • Outgoing personality with the ability to talk to new people regularly
Compensation:
Pay to start at $17/hour and up depending on experience.

Paid vacation time is eligible on an accrual basis.
