The Healthcare Admission Recruiter Is responsible for implementing student recruitment strategies with a specific focus on Valparaiso University's Bachelor of Science in Nursing, as well as RN to BSN and Accelerated Nursing programs. Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Transfer Admission, this person will create and execute a strategic plan for recruitment and enrollment in a designated territory, using regular reports to inform decisions and planning. While working remotely, the Healthcare Admission Recruiter will stay in close contact with the campus-based admissions office.


The Healthcare Recruiter will recruit in person from LaPorte, Porter, and Lake Counties in Indiana, Southwest Michigan, and in the Greater Chicagoland area.


This is a business development role in which you will establish and develop innovative partnerships with community colleges as well as their faculty, area hospitals, and other organizations to increase program growth. Efforts end networking will generate student inquiries, and contacts and promote the features and benefits of Valparaiso University's nursing programs. The Healthcare Admission Recruiter Is responsible for increasing the quantity and quality of nursing student applications.


This unique role encompasses business development, admissions, promotion, and outreach. This person will need to have exceptional presentation and people skills as they represent the university at a variety of engagements including education/transfer fairs, and nursing conferences. classroom presentations, orientations, hospital visits, "lunch and learns " and other campus and community events.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Represents Valparaiso University at fairs, nursing conferences, classroom visits, hospital visits, and meetings with community college faculty and staff
  • Some evening and weekend travel required
  • Coordinates recruitment efforts in assigned territories. Represents Valparaiso University to prospective students, parents, transfer counselors, and other individuals and/or organizations involved in the college search and selection process
  • Plans and implements recruitment and communication activities for community colleges and hospitals in assigned territory
  • Interacts with students to communicate distinctions of the college and to assess interest and academic potential
  • Works with the Admission staff on a variety of departmental projects and actively participates in group meetings
  • Creates reports and documents activities following departmental procedures on a timely basis including regular progress updates
  • Attends periodic training and events on campus throughout the year, attends and participates in other meetings (weekly Staff Meetings) via Zoom, and makes mutually agreed-upon and regular visits to campus

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Excellent written communication, verbal communication, and organization skills
  • Ability to multi-task, and exceptional organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Proficiency in the Google Suite and Slate
  • 2-3 years of admission counseling, business development, or education outreach experience
  • Proficient in Spanish a plus
  • This position is a one year contract with the potential for contract renewal

Driving a University vehicle or other vehicle while conducting University business is a requirement of this position. Applicants who apply for this position will be required to complete a motor vehicle record check. At a minimum, a successful candidate's driving record must be in compliance with guidelines established by the University. The results of the record check will be evaluated by the University before an applicant can become an employee of the University.
