Is responsible for the development, implementation, training, and updating of safety policies and procedures for manufacturing facilities located in CA, NV and NC. Position is responsible for conducting follow up investigations and maintaining records for all incidents, recordable and non recordable. Will lead the company initiative “Safety Takes All of Us” through continuous training, review, and interaction with employees in all Unix Packaging facilities.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

· Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.

· Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.

· Ensures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.

· Completes timely responses to OSHA inquires and advises on OSHA interactions

· Establishes and implements a safety committee.

· Provides technical and administrative support to the safety committee.

· Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.

· Investigate, resolve, and respond to all property and liability claims in coordination with insurance brokers and carriers

· Work with the company's insurance brokers to respond to requests for certificates of insurance and claims history documents, as required

· Manage all phases of the WC claims process from intake and investigation through litigation, settlement, and/or trial, and consults and/or participates in negotiations, depositions, conferences, and mediations with adjusting companies, general counsel, outside legal counsel, staff, claimants, and other involved parties

· Establishes and maintains a modified work program for employees with restrictions.

· Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards.

· Implements safety training and completes annual revisions, improvements, and updates.

· Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.

· Inspects safety equipment; recommends replacements.

· Drafts and implements internal safety standards and policies.

· Reviews accidents and incidents reported by employees and visitors to the facility.

· Investigate accidents and incidents to determine cause and take preventive measures to negate further accidents.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Experience with multistate plans: CAL/OSHA NVOSH NCOSH

· 6-10 Years of relevant work experience preferred, workers compensation and safety plan administration

· Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to conduct training.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field required.

· At least five years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment required.

· Preferred Safety Certifications : Certified Safety and Health Manager or Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

· Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections.

Travel Requirements:

· Position requires traveling between three facilities located in CA, NV and NC

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
