Neenah Foundry is hiring immediately a 1st shift Safety and Health Manager!

By effectively partnering with operations and other facility management leadership, the Manager – Safety and Health advocates and assists in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment in a manufacturing setting. This position is responsible for managing risk by inspecting work areas to determine potential safety and health hazards, identifying safety and health issues, reducing or eliminating unsafe working conditions, and ensuring compliance with Federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Safety and Health Manager Essential Functions

  • Provide leadership and direction around all safety and health regulations, policies, and procedures, and assure continuity and consistency of safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through interfacing with supervisory personnel.
  • Participate in developing and conducting safety and health training programs that are specific to the work environment and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the investigation and root cause analysis process for safety and health incidents in a timely manner.
  • Work with Operations Management to drive the need for safety and health awareness and safe work practices by implementing safety programs and procedures.
  • Review and recommend the requirements necessary for safety and health practices during the implementation or modification of equipment or processes.
  • Conduct data analysis, communicate safety performance metrics and goals for operations, and regularly track and report progress against safety goals.
  • Evaluate and analyze injuries and related trends at plants, and work directly with those operations to establish root causes and corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement action plans to improve site safety performance, tracking and measuring corrective actions and improvement.
  • Proactively identify and interpret new and existing laws, rules, and regulations applicable to the Company and work with the Director – Of Health, Safety, and Security on program development and implementation.
  • Proactively address Employee safety and health issues in a positive manner that builds trust with employees.
  • Spend time in the Foundry working with Employees, Supervisors, and Managers to identify and correct safety concerns or issues.
  • Serves various leadership and support roles on Safety Committees and multiple cross-functional teams.
  • Serve as a resource for safety and health questions and concerns for Employees, Supervisors, and Managers.
  • Lead the industrial hygiene process to identify, measure, analyze and manage workplace hazards or stressors from chemical, biological, ergonomic, and physical exposures.

Safety and Health Manager Expected Areas of Competence (KSAs)

o Self-motivated with a positive, results-focused attitude.

o Knowledge of the regulatory compliance required for the Federal, State, and local governments related to Occupational Safety and Health.

o Well-developed logic and reasoning skills to recognize potential problems, draw conclusions and identify solutions.

o Ability to communicate strengths and weaknesses of proposed solutions and propose alternative solutions.

Active listening skills, paying attention to understanding others and asking questions to ensure clarity.

o Knowledge of production processes, quality control, and operational procedures related to manufacturing.

o Strong attention to detail.

o Strong presentation skills.

o Ability to access, analyze, enter and otherwise work with information stored in or obtained through the company's computer system

o Effectively communicate with co-workers and third parties who have business dealings with the Company's Operations

Safety and Health Manager Education and Experience Requirements

o Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field.

o Knowledge and experience working with OSHA regulations are required.

o Will consider candidates with at least (10) years of safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment in lieu of education.

o Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification is a strong plus.

Safety and Health Manager Physical Requirements

o Ability to walk, stand, and interact with employees and equipment on the Plant floor for most of the shift

o Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Safety and Health Manager Travel Requirements

Occasional travel up to 10% is anticipated with this position.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $82,000.00 per year
