General Description / Primary Purpose
The Graphic Designer, under the direction of the Assistant Director of Creative Services, assists in the design, development and implementation of departmental processes and/or programs. Recommends policies and procedures to ensure effective coordination of departmental programs.
Essential Duties

Job Function
  • The graphic designer will manage day-to-day workflow of the creative process for assigned projects, ensuring timely delivery of creative ideas, content and production that meet strategic goals within budget parameters.
  • Design with the intention to raise University visibility through our brand guidelines and enhance its reputation among key constituents including prospective students, parents, current students, donors, employees, industry partners and community stakeholders.
  • Maintains and helps manage the digital assets, including edited photos, graphics, collateral etc. using internal University servers and systems.
  • Position requires experience in graphic design and publishing using the latest technology, hardware and software.
  • Stay up to speed on innovations in branded content, digital storytelling and interactive design.
  • This position requires computer-based design for completion of graphic artwork to meet University needs, including production of accurate camera-ready artwork for in-house and outside printing needs.
  • Must be able to convert computer artwork into web formats.
  • Work with University clients to produce timely and cost-effective artwork. Empowered to make any decisions necessary to fulfill project requirements and deadlines.
  • Must be willing to work closely with other creative staff and writers, and coordinate projects with a team attitude.

A high school diploma and four years of experience directly related to the job functions. Directly related college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

  • Position requires experience in graphic design and publishing using the latest technology, hardware and software for both print and digital platforms.
  • Continually learn updated related technology as hardware, software applications and training become available to stay current with methods, resources and best practices in the design industry.
  • Knowledge of advanced desktop publishing, graphic design, photography programs and processes.
  • Requires above average customer service attitude and willingness to work with the assistant director, co-workers and campus clients.
  • Reliable job attendance and punctuality.
