Applies computer graphics in the production of art work including soft- and hardware management. E
Designs, lays out, prepares traditional and digital camera ready art, and determines the color and techniques of final products. E
Advises instructional and administrative personnel on various aspects of graphic arts projects which may include art media, materials, costs and timelines. E
Prepares photographs for print and display including mounting, laminating, retouch, size, crop and scan. E
Coordinates projects with printers and other outside art material vendors. E
Prepares requisitions for art supplies and equipment. E
Creates signage using various media, styles and sizes. E
May provide work direction to personnel assigned to projects. E

- Modern techniques, materials and equipment used in graphic arts design.
- Computer assisted design using graphic programs, such as Quark Xpress, Illustrator, PhotoShop, Freehand Typography.
- Principles of color and design theories.
- Requirements and terminology for traditional and digital pre-press.
- High volume printing methods both offset and web.
- Principles of marketing and public relations.
- World Wide Web and Internet environments.
- Techniques related to the preparation of graphics for TV, multimedia and video.
- Electronic pre-press processes.
- Meet tight deadlines.
- Independently produce art work utilizing a variety of graphics materials and equipment.
- Determine coloring techniques.
- Create art work from scanned images, photographs, sketches and ideas.
- Design using typographical, illustrative and other related techniques.
- Prepare camera ready artwork for offset printing using traditional and digital pre-press.
- Work effectively and cooperatively with other personnel.
- Learn new innovations in the field of graphic arts design.
Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an Evaluation Service prior to the closing date. Certification must be attached with copies of transcripts.

- Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial employment (The certificate must be renewed every 4 years as a condition of continuing employment).
