Job Summary and Mission

We bring coffee and food to life in a fully immersive, theater-like, hospitality-inspired experience unlike anything the coffee or retail industry has ever seen. We opened our first Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Seattle’s vibrant Capitol Hill neighborhood in December 2014. It is an immersive and dramatic expression of our passion for coffee, located just nine blocks from our original Starbucks Pike Place store. Our SODO Reserve store is located on the ground floor of the Starbucks global headquarters in Seattle. Here, we welcome the world into our home with an expansive, stunningly designed space that combines coffee artistry with innovative, coffee and tea-inspired mixology and Princi’s authentic baked Italian fare.

The general manager – Siren Retail has unwavering focus and a track record of developing multi-dimensional, service centered leaders who demonstrate coffee and food leadership, passion for service, innovation and operational excellence. They navigate complexity and ambiguity to create the strategy and deliver the vision of the Reserve Experience, enabling the long-term growth of the partners and business. This leader would potentially support our Roastery, in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, OR our SODO Reserve store at the bottom of our corporate headquarters (we are hiring for both locations).

Summary of Key Responsibilities

As the general manager – Siren Retail , you’ll be able to apply your past retail leadership experience to:

Culture & Effective Communication

  • Set inspirational tone for partners & customers by role modeling coffee and food leadership & hospitality

Business Analysis & Problem Solving

  • Understand market-specific barriers to growth, mobilizes resources to solve problems & drive priorities. Ensures store leaders & specialists are focused on effectively achieving top priorities

Planning & Prioritizing

  • Leverage business and planning expertise to ensure successful execution of operations plans

Coaching Performance & Development

  • Develop multi-dimensional leaders through meaningful coaching conversations informed by observed performance across each leader’s responsibilities

Basic Qualifications

  • Experienced district manager or multi-unit leader with unique portfolio experience (i.e. high volume DTs, large sq ft. café with high merchandise sales, concept store(s), kiosks, evenings, rapid testing district, etc.)

  • Ability to create and execute strategic initiatives at a rapid pace in an evolving and highly visible business environment

  • Ability to lead and develop leaders with a proven track record of coaching high performing teams

  • Ability to be flexible, navigate ambiguity, and adapt knowledge and experience to the needs of the partner, customer, and business

  • Forward thinking with strong decision making capability and strength in problem-solving using a combination of established methods and external processes

  • Ability to plan and manage complex inventory systems, minimizing waste & optimizing profit

  • Demonstrated ability to lead inclusively and attract, develop, and retain a diverse partner team

  • Demonstrated coffee and food knowledge, passion and leadership

  • Deep understanding of and demonstrated commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience

  • Minimum age of 21+

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of retail experience managing 2 or more stores, departments or units, P&L, inventory, operations and customer service

  • 5+ years of management experience leading a team of 6 or more, including training and coaching, with strong leadership and communication skills

  • 3+ years of experience in a customer service oriented role

  • Experience in a multi-unit environment, knowledge of retail or restaurant industry operations and financial reporting

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills

  • Minimum High School or GED. Note: a college degree in business or a closely related field, OR 4+ years of US Military service may substitute for a portion of the required experience
