The Gas Design and Construction Advisor provides design and field guidance, and leadership to our utility client, as well as external organizations.

The Gas Design and Construction Advisor is responsible for reviewing gas construction designs, ensuring the constructability, and quality assurance of each design prior to getting submitted for construction.

The Gas Design and Construction Advisor will establish partnerships with Planning, Engineering, Land Department, Construction, Environmental and Vegetation Management. This role will require both office and field work.

Required Skills:

• Minimum 5 years in gas utility.
• Must have experience with ProCore Construction Software or the ability to quickly learn the program.
• Ability to read and understand gas designs and field constructability.
• 2 years proven experience in managing medium to large scale projects/programs.
• Strong ability to make recommendations for design improvements based on needs and requirements.
• Utility Electrical experience, vegetation management and safety management preferred.
• Strong experience with CAL-OSHA regulations and compliance standards.
• Local candidates only, must be willing to relocate, no per diem.

Responsibilities for Gas Design and Construction Advisor, but not limited to the following:

• Provide regular reporting on work activities.
• Analyzing and verifying that work orders meet Utility Clients Standard and Safety Practices and California General Order requirements.
• Assesses all jobs that modify the existing Utility Clients gas system and electric underground substructure and trench placement to ensure construction efficiency and correct customer billing (including overtime).
• Provides best construction options to minimize system outage magnitude which influences company revenue and customer service levels.
• Conducts field visits to assess design accuracy and constructability.
• Checks and verifies customer service point locations, access concerns along with electric conduit, substructure placement as well as gas facilities.
• Assists Field Utility Specialists (FUS) in identifying design deviation request needs.
• Ensures designs are complete and accurate by taking into account gas take-off points, outage requirements and scope, environmental issues, vegetation removal needs, and traffic issues that would restrict construction crews from completing the work.
• Provides direction for FUS on current construction methods through joint field visits, and design suggestions.
• Assess and verify designs that meet current Utility Clients requirements, internal safety procedures and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
• Works with Standards Department and Gas Operations to remain current on all changes to construction standards.
• Adds appropriate work methods to job scope such as gas control, cathodic protection, and other required system operations.
• Ensures design reviews are completed in a reasonable time frame to meet overall schedule.
• Make certain all equipment is called out on DBL's such as shoring, trench plate, traffic control for the safely completion of the job.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
