This position is responsible for the operation of a department. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job related responsibilities and duties as assigned and/or necessary. Essential Functions An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation. Assists management with the supervision of associates in assigned area of responsibility by assigning duties to associates; communicating goals and feedback; training associates on processes and procedures; providing direction and guidance to associates on member service approaches and techniques to ensure member complaints and issues are resolved according to company guidelines; ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures; supporting the Open Door Policy; and participating in recruiting, hiring, scheduling, promoting, coaching, and evaluating associates. Communicates and supports membership by providing information on membership types, programs, and benefits to current and prospective members; processing memberships, upgrades, and credit accounts; encouraging membership renewals; participating in sales and marketing events; completing and maintaining marketing recaps and other required documentation; striving to meet membership goals; and promoting the value of Sam's Club products and services. Provides and ensures member service by acknowledging the member and identifying member needs; assisting members with purchasing decisions; locating merchandise; providing guidance and support to members regarding self-service technology; assisting members with transactions utilizing registers or self-checkout area; and ensuring club pick up orders are filled. Oversees assigned area of responsibility by handling claims and returns; zoning the area; arranging and organizing merchandise; identifying shrink and damages; organizing and maintaining availability of carts/flatbeds; assisting members with transporting items; utilizing cart retrieval equipment according to company policies and procedures; and maintaining parking lot cleanliness. Completes accounting records, files, transactions, and other required documentation by following accounting office procedures; providing funds for proper register operation; creating and interpreting financial analysis reports; assisting with accounting-related investigations; preparing daily deposits; preparing and overseeing Cash Fund Transfers; investigating overages and shortages in cash register drawers and accounting office; and maintaining confidentiality and accuracy of financial and personal information. Develops, communicates, and implements processes and practices to meet business needs by collaborating with managers, co-workers, customers, and other business partners; analyzing and applying information from multiple sources; monitoring progress and results; and identifying and addressing improvement opportunities. Demonstrates, promotes, and supports compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by explaining, guiding, and demonstrating how to apply these in executing business processes and practices; implementing related action plans; using the Open Door Policy; and assisting management with correcting ethical and compliance issues and problems. Leads and participates in teams by using and sharing resources, information, and tools; determining customer needs and business priorities; coordinating and executing work assignments; providing advice, feedback, and support to ensure timelines and work quality are achieved; and modeling and helping others with how to adapt to change or new challenges. Leads Fax/Click 'n Pull Operations - Seeks out Members who need help and shares accurate Fax/Click 'n Pull program information with them. Provides Fax/Click 'n Pull services, fills Member orders, follows up on out of stock products, and completes reports in a timely manner, serving as a resource to others regarding Fax/Click 'n Pull services. Reports Member issues and problems with Fax/Click 'n Pull program service procedures, and communicates them to Management with ideas for corrective action. Ensures Fax/Click 'n Pull equipment and supplies are working properly, and uses these practices in own work. Technology - Proactively identifies members who need help, actively engages them, and assists them with Technology services and items. Models and helps others with technology services. Identifies shrink opportunities and problems with products, services and work areas, and takes steps to fix the problem. Properly maintains equipment and ensures products are organized and stocked in correct ways, and promptly fixes any problems. Training - Follows applicable laws and regulations when working with Associate personnel files and other sensitive and confidential files. Advises associates on training policies, schedules, and procedures when asked to do so. Identifies associate training needs, tracks required training course attendance, and coordinates new associate orientation and training in a timely manner. Reports complaints and problems related to training schedules or completing training requirements. Accounting Operations - Helps Associates understand and apply financial guidelines and related laws and regulations when reconciling, tracking, and reporting financial transactions, and does the same in own work. Identifies others who need help and shares correct information with them on accounting practices and principles. Advises others on how to properly record and reconcile financial data, track register audits and chargebacks, and secure accounting files, and does the same in own work. Work Environment Working in the following environment is necessary to perform one or more of the essential functions of this position. Moves through narrow, confined spaces such as stacks of merchandise or supplies, storage areas, and closets. Moves over sloping, uneven surfaces such as the parking lot, building perimeter, receiving bays, sections of the facility which have temporary cracks, or areas under repair.
