Job detail:

Job Title: Friction Material Engineer - Wheel and Brake components
Location: Gardena, CA
Hybrid role - Must be onsite 2-3 days a week

Job Designation:

• This position provides engineering R&D support for the development of aircraft wheel and brake components utilizing reverse engineering techniques and general design practices.
• Additional responsibilities include supporting the development of FAA certification documents.

Job Core Responsibilities:

• Develop design of aircraft wheel and brake components.
• Develop design substantiation data utilizing reverse engineering techniques.
• Support dynamometer testing
• Manage development of brake friction components
• Write Test Plans/Test Reports
• Provide shop/technical support to manufacturing group
• Work with manufacturing vendors and outside laboratories
• Create technical certification documentation for FAA design approvals

Job Specifications Education:

• Post-secondary degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.

Experience Required:

• 5 - 10 years of relevant experience

Skills:

• Proficient with computers, e-mail, MS Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Bachelors in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Five years minimum of significant subject matter expertise in aircraft brake development and/or maintenance engineering.
• FAA certification experience preferable.
• Must have strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general engineer periodicals, blueprints, component maintenance manuals and governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
• Mathematical skills concurrent with an engineer education.
• Reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid analytical conclusions.
