Financial Planning Specialist

North San Diego, California

Our clients include successful business owners and professionals with complex financial situations that require a sophisticated approach to financial planning. The work is process oriented with a high value placed on building long-term relationships.

This position provides technical support to the business owner/financial advisor. The planning associate is involved in plan development, investment review preparation, insurance illustrations, research, reporting, and presentation development. This role will assist with new account set-up, portfolio administration, insurance underwriting, as well as development of expertise in 401(k) plans and service.

Position responsibilities –

Financial Planning

  • Assist with gathering and entering client data into eMoney financial planning software
  • Grasp investment strategies and how they relate to a client’s goals; analyze and expose gaps
  • Design financial plans customized to client needs and prepare for presentation to clients
  • Understand how to read and interpret client statements
  • Perform investment research and analysis on investment products and services

401(k) Plans

  • Prep for and assist in conducting 401(k) plan educational meetings and follow up with plan participants
  • Assist with preparing benchmarking analysis of 401(k) platforms for Plan Sponsor Clients

Life Insurance Process

  • Prepare illustrations and present to clients
  • Assist clients with the application process and underwriting

Operations

  • Track client information through use of CRM software (we use Redtail)
  • Demonstrate the importance of a “Serve First” philosophy
  • Build rapport with clients through relationship building and strong communication skills
  • Communicate daily with advisor
  • Participate in weekly team meeting
  • Daily task tracking and organization

Requirements –

  • Completion of undergraduate studies (4-year degree) in Finance, preferably Financial Services
  • Experience and understanding of financial products
  • 2+ years of work experience; prior work with a financial advisor or broker-dealer is preferred
  • 5 years of experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook. Knowledge of financial planning software, such as eMoney, and CRM system Redtail is highly desired
  • Completion of FINRA SIE, Series 7, 66, and CA Life/Health licenses, or any combination is desired
