TITLE: Field Sales Representative, Mid-Atlantic Region

Department: NBN Sales

Reports to: Max Phelps

Department Head: Jason Brockwell

FLSA Status: Exempt

Objective:

The primary responsibility is to develop and maintain sales to a broad range of book customers in the Mid-Atlantic Region. This will involve in-person presentations, telephone contact, managing electronic sales and marketing tools and coordinating a variety of mailings. The Sales Representative is expected to achieve sales targets for the territory, forecast sales by title and report on activity in the territory. Accounts will include independent bookstores, gift shops, outdoor retailers, nature centers, public lands outlets, specialty wholesalers as well as some organizations and other businesses. There is an existing foundation of customers, and the goal will be to build revenue with this base, as well as open new accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sell, promote and coordinate distribution of NBN titles to customers throughout the territory.
  • Manage and cultivate business relationships with established and potential book customers.
  • Target niche accounts by product category, e.g., FalconGuides to outdoor retailers or cookbooks to gourmet stores.
  • Maintain, update and develop prospective and established customer contact information and sales profiles.
  • Develop targeted email campaigns to accounts.
  • Provide detailed sales reports to sales management.
  • Identify market trends and publishing opportunities.
  • Act as a regional ambassador for NBN publishers and authors, and as an extension of publicity and marketing departments.
  • Attend 2 annual sales conferences and 2 list launch meetings a year, as well as join in Zoom or telephone list launch meeting with client publishers.
  • Setup and staff trade show displays.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and phone etiquette.
  • PC literacy: proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with Edelweiss a plus.
  • Persuasive, positive, outgoing and personable.
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with geographic region, and retail landscape.
  • Valid drivers license and good driving record.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
