Job description
OBJECTIVE:
- Lead and Manage motivated team of mill operators and drivers. Organize work schedules for team members and be main point of contact for day to day mill employee communication.
- Efficiently operate and manage a feed mill. Schedule inbound and outbound loads of ingredients and complete feed based on incoming feed orders. Manage inventory of micro and macro ingredients at the mill. Will need basic understanding of mill automation and feed ordering software.
- Upgrade and maintain existing facilities. Will need a basic understanding of mill and site maintenance in order to adequately manage the mill.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Understand the basics of nutrition, feed ingredients, and feed budgets.
- Ability to communicate effectively with feed mills, pig owners and suppliers for product orders.
- Operate information and software systems.
- Attention to detail and batching integrity is a must.
- Ability to work in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Work with a fast paced, progressive nutrition and management team.
- Operate small equipment (fork lift, skid loader, etc)
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist other team members as necessary.
- Miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Education: Agricultural, animal science, grain science, or management experience.
Experience: Customer relations, livestock background and/or feed ingredients or feed milling.
Work Environment: Office located in Luverne, MN.
Physical Requirements: Ability to sit at a desk working on a computer and be able to lift <50 lbs on a daily basis.
