Position Summary
Exercises direct line supervision over an Electronic Technician Supervisor, an HVAC/Refrigeration Foreman, two Operating Engineer Foremen and service contractors to maintain building utility systems.
Education Preferred: A minimum of two years of post-secondary education from an accredited institution with emphasis on HVAC-related or refrigeration-related coursework.
Possession of a first class license in steam boilers and air conditioning, with a minimum of seven years managing large steam, chiller or co-generation plant serving multiple buildings, five years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
Must possess the appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification for technicians as required under Section i608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990.
Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
Knowledge of building mechanical systems.
Knowledge of building direct digital control systems (building automation) and energy management systems.
Knowledge of computer application programs, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and Building Control & Automation System software (Insight or similar).
Knowledge of the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of fire detection and notification systems and equipment.

Additional Position Information
LSU Health New Orleans Division of Facility Services is seeking motivated applicants for the title of Facility Maintenance Manager C.
The person applying should possess four years of experience in the building construction trades; building construction; building maintenance; or road or bridge construction or maintenance.

Starting rate of pay is 28.87 but may be adjusted based on the applicants’ qualifications. There is also an additional $1 Longevity Pay and $2.25 On-Call Pay.

Must be available to work overtime for special projects and responds to campus emergencies at all hours.

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Plans and supervises staffing, supply and some fiscal control and other management operations for engineering and energy management
  • Directly manages the building systems installation, maintenance, renovation and repair operations assigned to the Facility Services Department throughout all LSUHSC-NO campuses consisting of 3,040,035 sq. ft. and a budget of $15,000,000
  • Regularly inspects all buildings to proactively identify needed improvements and repairs that have not been reported through the computerized maintenance management system – maintains a Deferred Maintenance list from inspection findings
  • Directs the repair of all mechanical equipment and associated utilities, ensuring efficient and effective utilization of resources and continued operation of existing functions; b) Provides technical support to the Preventative Maintenance Group
  • Seeks proactive solutions to equipment problems related to aging or obsolete equipment
  • Approves time records of immediate subordinates for payroll purposes
  • Maintains a productivity file on each subordinate, noting the quantity and quality of work, disciplinary actions, commendations
  • Ensures all personnel adhere to all federal, state, local, campus, and department safety regulations during the performance of assigned duties
  • Coordinates work with other trades and departments as necessary
