OVERVIEW
Verdani is seeking a sustainability, ESG and Sustainable Real Estate Content Writer to support our marketing, corporate and client communications needs. This position will also help oversee and manage Verdani’s Communications team members to accomplish their projects and administrative tasks. This position requires a professional who takes initiative, is self-sufficient, creative, and resourceful. Preference will be given to those with:

  • Proven work experience in ESG, sustainability and/or commercial real estate
  • Proven project and team management and coordination experience
  • Strong writing portfolio with samples that include technical writing for data driven narrative (annual reports, white papers, research reports, etc.)
  • Desire and ability to work in a high-energy and fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and people skills

CONTENT WRITING RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Partner with Verdani colleagues, communications director, and client marketing teams to help drive critical ESG communications and execute hands-on projects to ensure a nimble and consistent, brand appropriate, communications approach.
  • Translate ESG strategy, priorities and milestones into communication materials that span from reporting and disclosures to marketing including website messaging and media, pitch books, press releases, blogs, articles, presentations, fund-level reports, quarterly reports, content and lite-design for periodic internal and external event materials, ongoing communications program strategy, awareness campaigns, internal and external newsletters and memos, response to investor DDQs and RFPs, communications support for ESG team meetings, conferences, corporate strategy sessions, etc.
  • Primarily responsible for producing annual ESG reports, annual strategy impact reports covering all aspects including content curation and development, content gathering, data gathering, data auditing, writing, project management, client management of review and revision periods, client liaison, communication and coordinating with design team, ensuring final product is delivered and all files successfully published and distributed according to Verdani and client requirements).

COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Manage client programs as appropriate or assigned
  • Guide, manage, and support coordination of communications department projects. Keep track of timelines, to-do lists, calendar, and deadlines, and help monitor and ensure content and data gathering for projects is done in a timely manner
  • Guide, manage, and support production of social media posts and PowerPoint presentations
  • Guide, manage, and support design of marketing pieces by designing charts and graphs, infographics, and other visuals, including photos and/or maps. Adhere to and uphold Verdani, client and partner brand guidelines.
  • Help update Verdani website text content
  • Guide, manage, and support quality assurance of workflow and production of communications projects
  • Conduct market research and develop marketing proposals. Keep up to date with the industry’s latest developments, trends, and promotional opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE*

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 6-8+ years of professional writing experience
  • 6-8+ years professional, corporate communications and/or marketing experience
  • Strong experience both creating new content and elevating existing communications content in-line with company brand and style guidelines and with knowledge of industry best practices
  • Recent sustainability or ESG-focused communications experience in institutional real estate or financial services industry is preferred
  • Balance a strategic approach with day-to-day tactical execution and project management
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to translate technical activities, results, and concepts into accessible and thematic internal and client-facing messages
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills – ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues and partners across various time zones
  • Demonstrated work ethic and accountability; ability to individually drive initiatives
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to evolve as the role and team evolve

  • Proficiency with online collaboration tools such as SharePoint and the Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Word, Publisher, and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional multi-tasking skills, self-motivation to complete projects and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to conceptualize, strategize, prioritize, initiate and execute approved projects independently as well as with support from management
  • Willingness to be a team player in a high energy, performance-based organization that experiences waves of intense project deadlines

  • Proficiency with PC platforms
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office* PowerPoint, Excel and Word – We use Word, Excel and PowerPoint every day
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, a plus
  • Experience with Squarespace (or Ceros) website builders, data visualization tools (such as PowerBI or Tableau), or ArcGIS, a plus
  • If working remotely, must have reliable daily access to high-speed Internet connection
