Job Summary

The Office for Institutional Equity and Inclusive Culture (EIC) seeks to promote, support, and nurture a living, learning, and working environment that is inclusive and fosters a sense of belonging for Drexel’s diverse community. The equity partner will be responsible for coordinating the implementation and success monitoring activities of the University’s equity imperative and antiracism efforts. The equity partner will proactively be developing partnerships with academic and administrative units to provide guidance related to attaining the University’s diversity, equity, and inclusion goal including identifying DEI learning opportunities; creating and sustaining retention strategies; applying promotion processes; and supporting search and hiring committees to create a fair and equitable processes for faculty and professional staff. Reporting to the assistant vice president for Inclusive Culture and Belonging, the Equity Partner will manage the unit contributions to the University’s annual antiracism and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) report, assessing progress as part of accountability.

Essential Functions

  • Work closely with the assistant vice president for inclusive culture and belonging to gather information about activities from academic and administrative units intended to advance the equity imperative.
  • Coordinate meetings and activities of the University’s antiracism implementation and success monitoring group, culminating with the Journey Towards Antiracism annual report
  • Coordinate the implementation of DEIB goals and objectives setting with the assistant vice president for inclusive culture & belonging, and vice president & chief diversity officer
  • Consult with academic and administrative units to perform a DEIB needs assessment, identify gaps, and develop a culture map to facilitate the evaluation of unit DEIB efforts annually in alignment with the University’s strategic plan
  • Disseminate DEIB implementation and evaluation processes and tools to academic and administrative units, providing education about process and consultation as needed
  • Support the development of formal programs to enhance retention in departments at Drexel
  • Serving as EIC’s representative on campus DEIB committees within academic and administrative units as needed
  • Manage communication of DEIB strategic and operational efforts to the broader University community
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent in Education, Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, Public Health, or another related field
  • 3 years of experience
  • Licenses/Certifications/Systems knowledge
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of research methods
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with a broad range of university partners
  • Presentation and public speaking skills, preferably in a university campus setting
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Education, human resources, organizational leadership, Public Health, or another pertinent/related field
  • Experience in a higher education setting and a demonstrated understanding of the culture, including shared governance and respect for diverse views and opinions
  • A collaborative, team-oriented colleague
